<span class="mu-i">"The wind flows and the darkness falters
in this world's 'eternity'"</span>

You are Gaius, a Water Mage from the Magical Kingdom of Zeal. You and Princess Schala, along with your friends Chrono, Marle and Lucca, have made your way to Arris Dome, the last refugee of mankind in this dark, destroyed future. In your stay there you purified the contaminated water and healed most of the sick and wounded of Arris Dome while everyone else helped in other ways. After a long discussion with Schala, you fell asleep on her lap and saw a dream where she was lost and alone in a cold, dark place, falling into despair even to the point of begging you to kill her. It was just a nightmare, however, and after waking up you discovered that you were missing your staff, you didn't know where your friends were and you once again knew how to cast a new spell.

<span class="mu-b">Learned Heal</span>

Well, it wasn't exactly a new spell. There was no need to practice with it, as you knew its effects well. You had seen your mother use it more than once. It could heal people just as effectively as the basic Cure I spell, but it could crucially heal more than one person at the same time and do it at a distance. Right now you estimated you could heal three people with it, but you knew your mother could use it on a dozen or more, so the number of targets would grow as you grew stronger. You were a little disappointed that it couldn't be used to cure the blind little girl that you had failed to cure yesterday, but developing your healing powers was still a step in the right direction. You <span class="mu-i">would</span> find a way to cure her, one that did not involve accepting the mysterious voice's offer of power. And you were sure that this spell would prove useful with the increased size of your party when you next headed into danger.

With your musings over your new spell complete, you came back to your senses only to find yourself unknowingly staring at Schala's incredibly beautiful face, peacefully sleeping while seated on the sofa where you had been lying until recently. You loved her. The dream may have been a horrible nightmare but it had at least helped you realize that. You briefly considered letting her rest, she had stayed awake for who knows how long after you had fallen asleep. You could go outside to look for your friends while she slept. Your desire to take care of her battled with your desire to tell her how you felt and in the end the latter won out. You loved her and you couldn't wait to tell her.

You hesitantly approached your hand to her face, pushed a loose strand of blue hair to the side and caressed her cheek. "Schala?" you gently called out.
