Swamp Village Quest

ID:q+YEMHiK No.5515278 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
The fenlands are all you know. Vast expanses of swampland surrounding squat, dark little islands, broad patches of moss and shrub-trees. The waters are cloudy and treacherous, navigated on stilts or by canoe, and the only thing on the horizon is the occasional church-tower.

The small village of Bogget is home to eight families - fathers and mothers, cousins, sons, uncles and grandmothers, all spending almost their whole lives within the fenland. The village has no church, and sits on a low and sandy island raised just above the swampland. There is no avoiding it - the people of your village are poor as dirt, and Bogget dirt is hardly a wealthy sort of soil. You farm a little rye and a few patches of onion, keep a few pigs and most of all live by fishing up eels and digging peat to sell.

The village hetman, chief of this poor, insignificant people, has decided to try to better the lives of his people - cousins, children, friends of his. Or, at least, to steer the little village of Bogget through the cold world of the fenland.

-----

You have survived the winter, and must stock enough food and supplies to survive the next. The morale of the people is vital, so they don't abandon this little isle and part ways. You've no wealth, yet, but if you ever have any to trade it will be kept track of.

>Supplies: 0
>Morale: 3
>Wealth: 0

>You need 3 supplies to survive the winter, and will have two actions per year. Your people will passively produce 1 unit of supplies a year. Morale can diminish or increase based on events.

>Actions
>Focus on stockpiling food in the springtime - farm and fish.
>Focus on the only business to be done in the swamp; fish for eels, dig for peat, and dry the eels, to provide something you may sell and trade for food and resources.
>Take the chance of the springtime to assemble the village lads and engage in some more risky activities - the next village over has cattle, and might have some money if you can sneak in the night, clap a few sentries over the head and get out before they spot you.
