"What's his name?"
"The king? His majesty the king Ademar Nanu."
"How did a dwarf became king?"
"You say as if a dwarf couldn't become one."
"I know this story!", says the bard.
"The duchy of Arazor in disrepair stood,
The emperor knew not what to do.
A dragon came forth with fang and flames
To destroy all that it couldn't tame
In its wake villages burned
Emperor wept for the lives and the throne
There was none good enough to retake
The land the monsters were calling their own
The emperor offered to make a king
Out of whoever defeated the dragon
And brought order back to the land
A group of brave adventurers went after
The might beast with its fire breath
They fought many battles and it is told
An entire lizardmen village they withstood
With bravery and goodness in their heart
They defeated foe after foe in their path
Until they arrived at the dragon's lair
And the battle that ensued was far from fair
The dragon killed most of them all
And the dwarf he was about to swallow
But with his mighty sword Ademar
Made himself king without a pair
Sunk his blade into the dragon's head
The magical blade for him tailor made
As the mighty lizard monster fell to its death
The people rejoiced for the land was fred
The emperor crowned Ademar new king
Over what was once the duchy of Arazor
The long chaos that preceded
Was buried and a new order emerged
The people the king trusted he put in charge
Of the major towns and villages around
And so slowly the order is being restored
For in peace we can just kill monsters galore
Until the land again belongs rightfully
To humans, elves, dwarves and halflings."
"It's a nice story. Have a coin.", the paladin says, paying the bard.
"Say, paladin... What do I need to get one of these hauling missions?"
"A horse, or better yet, a wagon would be good. Often the thing to be delivered is too heavy to carry by yourself. But sometimes, the destination is unreachable by horse, so you need to pay a couple people to carry the chest for you."
You then realize the tavern is rather empty because it is still day. You pay your tab, retrieve you dagger, and go walk about the city.
