Far back in Twaryian folklore, before their arrival on Vinstraga several hundred years ago, there are told tales of a most despicable and feared enemy that drove the Twaryian people from their homeland, a place that none are sure where it once was, or if it even existed- Alexander’s purges of culture destroyed what records the Twaryians had left, as well as locking away the people who could retell such history.

The enemy of what may as well now be legend is only referred to anymore as the Ear Cutters, for their grisly practice of carving away the pointed ends of the ears of the Twaryian people they attacked, rounding them, “fixing” them. When all hope was lost, legend has it, the Twaryian people were saved by their patron, a woman referred to as Saint Rufiya, whom was driven by the Judge Above to save the Twaryians from the Ear Cutters, leading them on a great migration, a fighting retreat, until finally they escaped across the sea, where the grateful Twaryians named their first city on the new world and capital ever afterwards, Pokoyrufiya, after their Saint who sacrificed herself in a last stand with her Honored Thousand on the shores of the Old World keeping the Ear Cutters from pressing their hateful pursuit.

The Twaryians, arriving en masse and settling on Vinstraga, were hardly welcomed with open arms. The Kingdom of Ellowie, as it was back then, readily made war against the migrated peoples overflowing from the eastern lands, and when Alexander conquered Sosalia, the Ellowians were made the overseers of the Twaryian lands and people, where they oppressed them in brutal fashion- some cruel-hearted officials embraced them being cursed as “Ear Cutters” and reenacted the brutal mutilations, but most saw it as a mystifying title spat by a people with little to claim any pride in.
With the First Kaiser’s death, the Ellowian Kingdom’s hold over Twaryi loosened as its occupation was steadily less and less feasible with the withdrawal of the Grossreich, and as the Kingdom was overthrown by the Republic, the Ellowian people forgot what sins their ancestors had perpetrated…but the Twaryians did not.

They did not forget, nor forgive, as they placed the grievances at the bottom of a list whose origins were lost to time- and now, the time had come for them to cease fleeing and cowering before the world.
