You are LCdr Dallas Annon of the Terran Protectorate Navy, and currently the Acting Captain of the last live voidship left in this ravaged sector of the galaxy. Plagued by chronic nightmares and other symptoms of your recent inheritance of your late brother's command implant, you wake to find yourself on the observation bridge with no power, no gravity, and no memory of how you got there.
Picking up the pieces, you discover your family's voidship was attacked by a mysterious enemy, crippling her and leaving you as the last officer of the blood. With danger at the door, and your family's legacy to uphold, you step up and take command — the ship must have a captain.
But the Captain doesn't stand alone, you are joined by your intrepid crew each with their own talents and flaws.

Together, you and your crew have secured command of your voidship and repelled an unusually advanced enemy boarding party, — though your methods have left most of your crew worse for wear.
As your crew investigates the boarding craft for additional threats, you have your damaged ship’s sole remaining power source kick-started through dubious means. By feeding dead crew to the Coober Pedy’s beating heart (the proprietary and ever-growing nuclear furnace known as a ‘live void-core’), you not only restored full power to the voidship but attracted the attention of a strange entity — PD-113.
