previously, your colony mission to the stars arrived, you risked doom with mysterious forms of alien whose translator program is incomplete, have seen another race of boomer aliens messing up backing out their space driveway (killing a planet...and themselves in the process), and you have encountered a race at last that will let humanity live on its world. a hive insect race of some kind, that lives on an icecrusted waterball, deep below in the world ocean. mankind could never outbreed these insects, but it looks like they dont give a fuck about others using the icy surface above.
you have been given an ice cave system to use as a colony, with life below to visit if you can go scuba diving. you have a ship in orbit.
there is an AWOL research team already down there, in fact, having broken orders and stolen one of your shuttles. who knows what they're doing now
you have with a nascent queen, gifted to you by the Queen, who has taken her massive warship out of orbit to the next planet, for secretive and unstated needs. your "little" (actually she's big enough to football kick a small vehicle probably) queen is expecting an ice cavern preferably near the water if she wants to start laying your workers.
this is an odd world, for an odd species, but earth at least is expected to send an inspector and diplomat soon. who knows, maybe scifi is wrong and insect and man can get together. maybe the specters will NOT fuck it up somehow. and what is that Queen up to?
