You decide you need a fresh pair of eyes, luckily, Dr. Cain was here earlier so you can easily call her up. Surely there had to be an easier way of contacting people, like a castle-wide messaging service or something? Anyways, you decide to ring up the good doctor, for a little while you're wondering if this was such a good idea, until she finally picks up. She peels back a pair of soot-covered goggles and squints at the camera.
"What? Did I forget something?" She looks onto the camera curiously, and for the next few moments you try to pick your words. Fortunately, she's patient enough and doesn't say anything, merely raising a brow at your silence.
"Ah, you see, something strange has come up. I need your advice."
"Well... alright? Do you remember where my lab is?"
"I can't leave the kids alone."
"I gave you the droid program, did I not?"
"You did, but I can't use it yet, just please come back over."
Cain's face turns strange as she considers your request, she gives a deep sigh before taking her goggles off, and throws them somewhere offscreen.
"A purely professional matter, I hope?"
"Yes, doctor..."
"I don't make house calls often, you know? Alright, give me some time, then."
"Thank you, doctor!"
You end the call a little stiffer than you'd like, while it's true she's become a friendly acquaintance, you're about to bring up something truly strange. Perhaps you're better off not digging the body back up again, it's certainly not something you want to show a 'friend' in the dead of night. For the next while, you're pacing back and forth just behind your door, when Cain shows up again you don't even let her ring the doorbell. She's surprised but quickly moves past it, following your lead inside, allowing the doors to close automatically behind her.
"So, what's the trouble? I hope it's nothing as trivial as the children having nightmares?"
"It's not that."
As you lead her back into your sitting room, you offer her some tea you had prepared. Apparently, the processors can provide base ingredients, when you taste tested the tea it didn't seem too far off, it might actually be better like this. For a few moments, you considering your words again, while your fingers fidget. Fighting is easy, talking is hard, your dad had said something like that when you were younger, and he's just as right now as he was then.
Dr. Cain takes a loud sip of her tea, reminding you she's still here, before you speak up again. So, you open up about what's troubling you, except you leave out some details. You tell her a traveler from the future came to warn you about imminent danger, specifically, Thoth. Surprisingly, she was familiar with him.
"Thoth? Castle advisor and fortune teller?"
"Fortune teller?"
"That's right, they say he can see the future, he even takes a few jobs every now and then. I don't know how true any of it is, however." She gives you glance, "he claims to be a future Thoth, do you trust that?"
