>>5694503I do not know, to be honest as a third son we can try to travel to court and if not in the Kingsguard try to become a knight in the retinue of some important lord, or even of a member of the small council, maybe play spy games there and support, first as a simple pawn, then a more important player, one or more of the court's factions. (Or we can even support the Faith by helping the Great Septon, a lot of things can be done in the capital).
Then, if we prove competent enough and climb ranks we could try to be taken to the small council.
Or, good sirs, if we are a third son of the house of Gulltown we will probably be required to serve in the house's fleet, after all they are the main port that imports or exports something in the Vale (the roads from the Riverlands are dangerous because of the the Mountain Clans), and if it is an important port it has some galleys. If we are competent enough we could be a captain, and then maybe try to become a captain in the royal fleet, it could be interesting.
