The earth representatives that really should be contacted again would surely know more, but they’d order you to explore it most likely. Or they might not, you have a war to fight after all. A shame your inexperienced young standing ambassador is caught on a distant wartorn planet, B6, with the rest of the allied races including your relief forces and colony ship fighting a land war. The land war on B6, and your colony ship, are unreachable at the present time through radiation and unknown backwash, clearing with slow cruel time
three potential sides to the war exist now, as the defense of B4 crumbles in its current stage, and enters a new stage. It still remains an ice-covered ball of water, but its upper strata is now sterilized, broken, covered in trenches, foxholes, and alien watchtowers, stripped to the atom with radiation, exotic energies off-scale, and strange life readings that flit and flitter and appear and vanish and crawl. Nuke-cracked fjords, rivers, bays and oceans dot the iceballs marred surface. It used to be so pure an iceball from space. You left a HAARP array on the surface, that may be important to recover

Human, bugs, specter (Elder thing pirates), religious squids, pirate go-lucky dog-things. The allied civilized races of this system. The newest allies here are AWOL scientists you’ve had running amok under the ice for a while now, since arrival. Only now is it revealed they’ve been far more industrious, far more older, and far more enigmatic then previously believed, thanks to the other races. Every race has had (and will have) mad scientists
A second side, your enemies, the furries. Clever. Tactical. Cordyceps-infected. Cognizant. The longer they remain alive, the more troubles they cause. They have tried twice to raid B4 and now their last hijacked ship and the bug Queens warship are coming to fight the thing that emerged (and each other). Even now they fight over B6 like tunnel rats
