In the ever flowing phlogiston there is a crystal sphere. That crystal sphere is called Väkispace, and inside it is the Vesi solar system. The third planet from that Sun is called Kalman. The surface of Kalman has vast, deep oceans and mountainous, rugged continents. On the side of the planet where day is just beginning to break, is an archipelago where a continent once was. An archipelago formed from a conflict that reshaped the entire world. The Dark Archipelago.
You awake several hundred miles to the west of that archipelago. Laying face down in the rough sand, you gradually come to your senses. It is dark, and water laps at your feet. You roll over and see stars overhead, and a moon partially covered in clouds. As your eyes adjust, you get a better sense of your surroundings. You are on a beach. The waves of the ocean gently push against you. Behind you are tall limestone cliffs, reflecting the pale moonlight. In the distance to your left, you see warm lights that you guess could be a town. To your left the cliffs continue and curve along the coastline until out of your view. You notice a dull pain on your left forearm, and a sticky wetness. Odd, considering it's your lower body that is wet while your upper body is dry. You move your forearm into the moonlight and read two words carved into your skin:
KILL HIM
A kaleidoscope of images flashes through your mind, driving sharp needles of pain behind your eyes. It finally coalesces into a single face. A man with scarlet hair as red as fresh blood, and eyes burning blue like a midday sky. The face smiles a broad grin, his perfect ivory white teeth contrasting with the caramel tan of his skin. The last thing you see before passing out is the glistening gold crown on his brow.

Welcome to Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Archipelago Quest! This is a quest based on a 5e homebrew setting of mine I've had rattling around in my skull for a while but never really put on paper. Let's start with character creation first!
