This limits your options somewhat. The poor slime is intent in killing you. These things are dangerous in large numbers or when you are weakened from fighting more dangerous foes, but it is never good to underestimate any opponent. You will have to figure out a way to deal with this.
You could kill the slime, but then you'd have to face the consequences.
You could try running away very fast, but the slimes are known for squirting Goop on people that try to run away from them, it would ruin your Boots.
Or you could make a deal with the slime. Although dumb, they aren't completely stupid. If you give it a lot of food, it may let you pass unharmed.
