Last time, on Cutémon...

After a heated fight in the frozen streets of Pyrite City, the sinister Professor Plumtree and his friends were sent to jail by Professor Slim Sagebrush, with a little help from his big deputy Hamoose! You and Joe brought the injured Onlion aboard Ben Currant's balloon, but after an out-of-the-way landing outside Fort Brass, Joe was waylaid by a larger-than-average Wooldozer's wallop while trying to capture it by himself! Leaving Joe under the watchful eyes of Onlion, you and your mon friends made for Fort Brass to seek help from the humans during the first day of their festival, but instead you were found by Yuccaza and his human Raul, a member of the Traders! Fleeing to the top of a parade float full of human dancers, your fancy footwork was followed by a friendly meeting with the traveling nurse Charlie and her mon Shootuner!

Rescuing Joe and returning to Fort Brass, you set out into the streets to find your first job and ended in the employ of Trevor, a down-on-his-luck mon groomer with no help and an angry Pokumon! Subdued by the suds of your shared soaking, Pokumon proved no problem, and Trevor treated you to your first day's pay, but the big payoff was your LOVE stat increasing thanks to your generous gesture of a hot sandwich to Joe!

With Joe back on his feet and you posing as a Plodapod, you all attended the festival's closing ceremony surrounding a huge crystal, but when Joe was put in the spotlight, you were filled with energy from the strange selection! Unable to sleep, a late-night fly-by by your friend Auroara led you both to a secret between Auroara and her human Overseer Kinsen that had been left buried for thousands of years! Accosted by alien-type mons beneath the crystal, you fell victim to its Spectrum ability before falling through the floor into the liquid lair of the lurking Lottamax!

Saved from certain submersion by Auroara's aquatic actions, you and your friends all shared a ride in Charlie's buggy to the train station in Weldspring, where you bid farewell to Auroara and entered the Cutécaptor before Joe boarded the train to meet a professor who specializes in human-type mons! The ever-foggy Cape Smelt was scary, but its resident Professor Lungwort was even scarier! After leading you and Joe to his parlor alongside his partner, the airheaded Miasmiss, Professor Lungwort revealed he was really a human-type mon called Spyjak posing as a Professor to plunder the powers of other human-type mons before Miasmiss subtracted their stats! You survived with your BODY intact, and Professor Lungwort's timely test questions caused your MIND stat to double before Miasmiss's hunger made short work of Spyjak's BODY, and Spyjak as well!

With the house to yourselves, you discovered the duplicating Ekro, but when Joe insisted on keeping you out of the fight, Ekro escaped and Joe was left holding the snare!

Well, what do you have?

What? You want me to tell you what you have so you can see if I remember? Well, you have your Travel Map, and your Car Key for your car parked in the Rust City Arena, and your Baseball Cap that you use to trick humans into thinking you're a human girl. Did I get it all right?

You're nodding your head!

What? You just realized that your eyes are still closed? It's because you were sleeping! You open your eyes and sit up on the couch and look around but you can't tell if it's morning because it's so foggy and there are so many shadows! When you look at the fireplace you see the wood is all gone. Well, Professor Lungwort's house is still scary even if it really is morning! You look around some more and see Joe's backpack on one of the couches. You remember it has the Cutécaptor that Professor Plumtree invented to capture a Cutémon, and a Mini Sleep Bomb, a picture of Joe's sister, some rope, your Sunglasses, and your Silly Hat that looks like a Plodapod!

You put on your baseball cap and look at Joe and...

What? You just realized you don't know where Joe is?

[SFX: muffled thump]

You hear something upstairs!

You look at the stairs and then look at your mon friends sleeping on the big blanket on the floor. It seems like none of them heard anything!

[SFX: muffled thump]

That was even louder than the other noise! You look at the stairs and tip-toe toward them and peek up the stairs and then start to tip-toe up the stairs and-


Joe attacks before Cutémon was ready!

"Sorry I scared you like that." Joe grins down at you and walks down the stairs next to you. "I was just looking around upstairs."

You can't help grinning at Joe!

Joe glances at Onlion and looks at you. "When I was upstairs, I saw a big building further up the shore. It looked like an arena. I think Onlion will be alright for now. Do you want to come check it out with me?"

You're nodding your head!

"Ram-ram?" Ramster rubs his eyes and looks up at you.

"We're going to the arena!"

Ramster yawns and says "Ram-ram!"

Tamounda sits up and stretches his tail and says "...mounda."

Lottatax sits up and opens his mouth really wide and says "Aaah-ahhh-ax!"

Joe puts on his backpack and looks at you. "Ready?"

You look back at Onlion but Onlion is still sleeping! You look at Joe and nod and then you and Joe and Ramster and Tamounda and Lottatax all walk out of Professor Lungwort's house and down the hill toward the ocean and then you walk on a path along the shore. You have to walk slowly because the fog is so thick! You keep walking along the path and suddenly a big building appears out of the fog in front of you! This must be the Cape Smelt Arena!

What? You don't think it looks very nice? Well, maybe it looks nicer on the inside!

Joe looks up at the building and then pulls open the door and walks inside and looks around and then says "Hello?"

...

You don't hear anything! You and Joe look at each other and then you walk through a doorway and-

When you walk through the doorway you see a human man and a big mon that looks like a muscular blue squirrel! It's a Scurl! Scurl looks at you and says "Scurl!"

Joe looks at the human man and says "Um, is this arena open?"

"Forget it, kid. This place hasn't seen a match in years. I just slept here last night to get out of the rain."

Joe looks around at the walls and then looks at the human man and nods. "Well, thanks anyway, mister."

"Hey kid, wait a minute!" The human man takes a step forward. "I'm in town looking for some rare mons. I could use a second pair of hands. Whaddya say, kid? I'll pay you 10 coins for every mon you help me capture."

Joe can't believe it! "10 coins?" He looks up at the human man and shakes his hand and says "My name's Joe."

"Gunner."

"Scurl!"

What? Joe is looking at you?

"Mon trainer, huh? My Scurl is smarter than any arena mon. But sometimes you need a real human, right?"

"Oh, yeah. You can make a lot of money if you know the right buyer." Gunner points at a gym bag. "Lemme show you what we've got to work with."

Scurl hops over to you and looks at your baseball cap and says "Scurl!" and then tries to knock it off with his tail! You grab your baseball cap with both hands and pull it back down on your head!

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and-


Scurl attacks with Strongarm!


Scurl grabs Tamounda in a wrestling move! You look at Joe and Gunner!

"Scurl is being mean!"

Gunner and Joe look up from Gunner's gym bag and then Scurl squints his eyes and smiles and says "Scurl! Scurl!"

"Whaddya talking about, kid? He just likes to roughhouse." What? Gunner doesn't believe you? You give Gunner a determined look!

"No! Scurl is being mean!"

Gunner glares at you and then glares at Joe and says "Do you want a job or not? I don't need to babysit some novice mon trainer!"

Joe glances at Gunner and looks at you. "Is something wrong?" You can tell Joe is nervous because he doesn't want Gunner to be upset but he also doesn't want you to be upset!

Even though Scurl is being mean, it seems like you'll have to pretend that you all get along with each other! You look at Scurl and Scurl says "Scurl!" and then you look at Joe and Gunner and shake your head!

"Alright, let's go." Gunner picks up his gym bag and walks out of the arena and Joe glances back at you and follows Gunner. When you look around you see your mon friends are all walking a few steps behind you! You look ahead of you at Scurl and see Scurl glare over his shoulder! It looks like your mon friends are trying to stay away from Scurl!

Joe and Gunner walk for a while and then Joe says "Are you looking for any specific mons?"

"There's one mon everyone wants to capture when they come here. A Psykid."

What? You just remembered Professor Ginger captured Ward near Cape Smelt?

Gunner and Joe stop walking and Gunner looks around and points at some cliffs. "That's where we'll start looking. Alright kid, you're with me." Gunner looks at Scurl and says "Scurl, you go down by the water with those other mons."

Scurl looks down at the water and says "Scurl!" and takes a step back up the beach! It seems like Scurl really doesn't want to get close to the ocean! Maybe it's because he can't swim!

You watch Joe and Gunner disappear into the fog and then you climb down closer to the water and see a cave! Do you think any mons might live in it?

You're nodding your head! You climb down to the cave and look around and...

"Scurl!"

When you look behind you, Scurl says "Scurl!" and hops toward you!

Suddenly Ramster jumps at Scurl but Scurl grabs Ramster and holds him with one arm and then Scurl rubs his knuckles between Ramster's horns and says "Scurl! Scurl!"

Ramster says "Ram-ram!" and kicks his feet in the air but he can't do anything!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks out his tongue and slaps Scurl with it and Scurl drops Ramster and glares at Lottatax! Lottatax flattens his head spikes back and says "Lottatax!" but then Scurl hops closer to Lottatax and Lottatax can't help taking a step backward!


Scurl attacks with Tail Slice!


Scurl swings his tail around and knocks Lottatax backward through the air! It seems like Scurl might be stronger than any of your mon friends!

Scurl turns his head and looks at you and says "Scurl!"


Scurl is challenging you!


Tamounda, Ramster, and Lottatax all surround you and look up at Scurl! It seems like they're all about to start fighting!

You give your mon friends your cutest look!

"Let's be nice to Scurl!"

"Ram-ram?"

"Tamounda?"

"Lottatax?"

"Scurl?"

Everyone is looking at you! Are you really going to be nice to Scurl even after all the mean things he did?

You are? Do you think Scurl might not be very nice because Gunner isn't as nice as Joe?

You look back at your video game lying on the floor of the cave and then you run after Lottatax! You have to follow Lottatax because you can't see Tamounda or Ramster! Suddenly Lottatax vanishes into the fog and you can't see anything! You look around but you can't see anything and then you look around again and whisper.

"Tamounda? Lottatax? Ramster?"

You can't hear any of your friends! You take a step and then take another step and feel your way forward through the fog.

"Scurl! Scurl!"

That sounds like Scurl! You take a step and stumble on a rock and then you hear Gunner's voice!

"Whaddya got there?"

"Scurl! Scurl!"

"You hear that, kid? Scurl found a human-type mon!"

"Scurl! Scurl!"

"That novice mon trainer better not scare it off! Here, kid, open up my gym bag and get out a Sleep Bomb."

It seems like Gunner doesn't realize you're the human-type mon Scurl is talking about! You had better get out of here right away!

You turn around but you don't know where Gunner and Joe are! Suddenly you see something blue hopping through the fog toward you!

Look out!


Scurl is challenging you!

Scurl attacks with Double Kick!

It really hurts!


Scurl says "Scurl!" and jumps in the air and kicks you with both his feet and knocks you down onto the ground!

You turn over and push yourself up and stand up but then you see something tall stumbling through the fog toward you! It's Gunner! "There! I think I see a human-type mon!" Gunner reaches out his hands toward you and glances away and says "Get over here and help me... huh? Where'd it go?"


Cutémon is fleeing the fight!


You take a step backward and then turn around and run through the fog! Even though you can't see anything you keep running until you trip on a rock and fall down again! When you sit up you hear Gunner's voice behind you!

"Split up! Kid, you come with me. Gimme that sleep bomb."

You scramble to your feet and stumble over the rocks as quickly as you can and then you can see the cave you were in before! Maybe you should hide here for now! You run inside the cave and-

What? You just noticed your video game isn't on the ground where you left it? You look all around the cave but you don't see it anywhere!

"Scurl! Scurl!"

When you look over your shoulder you see Scurl standing outside the cave glaring into the cave at you! Scurl holds his front paws together and cracks his knuckles and says "Scurl!"

Cutémon is using Hair Pin!


Scurl says "Scurl?" and looks up as your hair stretches up into the air above him and then your hair wraps around him!


Scurl is flexing.


What? Scurl is flexing? He flexes even harder and your hair has to let go! You both fall back on the ground and then Scurl hops up and jumps at you!


Scurl attacks with Double Kick!

It really hurts!


Scurl lands on you with both feet and then you bite him in the foot and he says "Scurl!" and hops around the cave on his other foot! Suddenly he turns around and swings his tail and knocks you all the way across the cave!

Scurl says "Scurl!" and crouches down and then he jumps at you again!

You roll out of the way just in time and Scurl lands on the ground next to you and then you stick out your leg behind him and he falls backward!

You jump on top of Scurl and poke him in the stomach as hard as you can with your outer fangs! Scurl says "Scurl!" and flops around and falls over and says "Scurl..."

You can feel the energy from winning your battle reinvigorating you!

What? You just realized Scurl didn't have your video game? You look around and then you hear Gunner's voice!

You look around but you don't see anywhere to hide! Suddenly Gunner and Joe walk into the cave and look around and look at you and then Gunner kneels down next to Scurl! "What happened, pal?"

Gunner picks up Scurl and carries him out of the cave! Joe looks around and looks at you and then puts your baseball cap on the ground and follows Gunner! It seems like Joe didn't see you, even though you were right in front of him!

What? You just heard that in your head? You turn around and see a strange girl glaring at you!

What? You think she looks a lot like Ward?

It seems like she really is a Psykid! You look down and see your video game in her hand! She looks down at the video game and then glares at you again!

You look around and pick up your baseball cap and put it on and then look at Psykid and hold out your video game again.

Psykid is still looking down at your video game! It seems like she doesn't know how to play it!

Psykid can't help glancing away! You hold out your hand toward Psykid.

"Can I show you how?"

Psykid looks at your hand and then glances at the video game and hands it to you and you sit down next to her and start playing! Psykid looks at you and then sits down next to you and watches you play it for a little while and then you hand her the video game and she starts playing it!

It seems like Psykid is having fun!

"Knew I'd find something interesting back here."

What? You recognize that voice? You and Psykid look up from your video game and see Gunner standing in the cave! "Trying to poach my Wild Psykid, huh?"


Psykid is using Evade!


Psykid disappears! Gunner looks around and grins and says "It can't hide from a Sleep Bomb!" Gunner holds up a sleep bomb and-

"Wait!" Suddenly Joe runs into the cave behind Gunner!

"Sorry kid, your mon trainer's in the way!" Gunner tosses the sleep bomb at you and then all you can see is purple smoke!

[SFX: coughing]

Even though you're trying to hold your breath, you can't help coughing again! You reach around and feel something with fuzzy ears on the ground! It seems like Psykid is already asleep! You try to drag her out of the purple cloud but you're too sleepy! You had better get some fresh air right away!

You stumble out of the purple cloud and blink and see Joe and then all of a sudden you fall forward but Joe catches you! You can't help yawning but then you remember Psykid and you look over your shoulder as the smoke clears and you all see Psykid asleep on the ground next to your video game!

Gunner glances at Joe. "Nice work, kid. Gimme that gym bag."

It seems like Gunner is going to capture Psykid after all! What? You just had an idea? You let go of Joe and stand up even though your legs are wobbly and then you give Gunner a determined look!

"I caught her first!"

Gunner can't believe it! "You?" Gunner takes a step forward and looks down at you and raises his hand! You can't help crying out!

[SFX: metal clanking]

"Don't touch her, Gunner!" Suddenly Joe drops Gunner's gym bag and his backpack on the ground and raises his fists like a boxer!

Gunner is laughing! "A couple brats ain't gonna stop me from capturing this Psykid!" Gunner glances at you and looks at Joe. "You know, there are a lot of big mons in the ocean. Maybe I oughta get rid of you both!" Gunner turns away from you toward Joe and takes a step toward him!

Lottatax attacks with Tongue!


Lottatax opens his mouth and stretches out his tongue and slaps Gunner in the face! Gunner stumbles backward and wipes the slime off his face and then Gunner turns around and looks down at Ramster!

Ramster says "Ram-ram!" and pops a tiny party favor at him and Gunner stumbles backward toward you!

"Oops!"

You stick out your foot and trip Gunner and he falls over next to Tamounda! Gunner stands up and-

Tamounda swings his tail and slaps Gunner from behind and Gunner stumbles forward out of the cave and falls over the cliff into the ocean!

You and your friends walk along the shore for a while and then you can start to see the fog isn't as thick! You walk some more and then you can even start to see the sky!

[SFX: scream]

Suddenly you hear a human woman scream! When you get all the way out of the fog you can see a human woman wearing a red dress standing on a rock! You don't know what she's doing all the way out there! The woman looks around and then you see a huge mon that looks like a giant blue eel slither up onto the rocks!

Joe looks up at the huge mon and says "I think that's a Mostay!"

The Mostay raises its head up in the air and looks down at the human woman and she screams again! You and your mon friends all run toward them and jump onto the rocks near Mostay!

What? Joe is saying something else? You can't hear him because the waves are so loud!

You look at Joe and JP and then look at Ekro again! Are you really not going to tell Joe about Ekro?

When you look at Joe again you get a different strange feeling in your chest! Even though you don't want to talk to Joe and JP right now, it seems like you might feel bad later on if you don't tell Joe about Ekro! You take a step back without looking away from Ekro and then tip-toe across the room toward where Joe and JP are sitting on a couch in front of the fireplace.

Joe shifts his position and says "Um, well, the first wild mo.n I ever caught was a Sailater."

"Really? That's incredible!" JP stretches her arms up and then holds her hands closer to the fire. "Are you from around here, Joe?"

"Um, yeah, I mean, no, I'm from Patina. It's..." Joe looks up at you. "What's wrong?"

You point at the top of the stairs and whisper to Joe and JP.

"Ekro is back!"

Joe can't believe it! He whispers "Ekro!" and then-

"Hey, it really is an Ekro! Those are pretty rare, you know!" What? JP just shouted all that? Ekro flaps his wings and looks like he's going to fly away!

Joe waves his hands back and forth at JP and says "Shhh! I mean, um, we don't want to startle it."

JP shouts "Whoops!" and sits up on the couch and whispers "I don't usually get to see mon trainers capturing mons in the wild like this!"

Joe slowly reaches down and grabs his backpack and then looks at it for a moment. It seems like he's thinking about something! You look at Joe's backpack and then look up at Joe.

"What's wrong, Joe?"

Joe glances at you and then looks at Ekro and says "Ekro knows what rope is. Maybe it's never seen a Sleep Bomb before." Joe puts his backpack down and unzips the gym bag and then stands up but the strap of the gym bag gets caught on the leg of the couch and all the Sleep Bombs and Mini Sleep Bombs tumble out of the gym bag and roll everywhere!

JP can't help giggling!

Ekro flaps his wings again and then flies off of the railing and starts flying around the ceiling! Joe reaches down to grab a sleep bomb and stands up just as Ekro flies past but Ekro knocks the sleep bomb out of Joe's hand before he can open it! Joe looks around and crouches down and grabs a mini sleep bomb off the floor and grabs the rope snare out of his backpack and stands up and watches Ekro flying in circles around the ceiling!


Ekro is using Duplicate!


You see the same spiral of energy Ekro used before and then suddenly Ekro splits into three different Ekros!

Joe gives one of the Ekros a determined look but then Joe notices JP watching him and he loses track of which Ekro he was looking at!

What? You think Joe is looking at the wrong Ekro again?

Joe gives the Ekro a determined look and shifts his stance as it dive-bombs him!


Ekro1 attacks with Flap!

Joe can't see!


The Ekro flaps to a stop in front of Joe's face and slaps him in the face with both wings! Joe has to close his eyes and rub them! When the Ekro slaps Joe with his wings, Joe drops the sleep bomb and the pin comes out and a purple cloud starts spraying out!

The sleep bomb bounces on the floor and rolls toward JP and she kicks it away into another room!

Joe rubs his eyes and squints and sees another one of the Ekros flying toward him and then Joe swings the rope snare and throws it at the Ekro but he misses because he can't see very well!

Maybe you should ask your mon friends to help Joe!

You look down and see Ramster wearing a tiny fedora and holding a bunch of tiny slips of paper! Ramster waves the tiny slips of paper at Tamounda and Lottatax and says "Ram-ram!" It looks like Ramster is taking bets on Joe and Ekro!

Tamounda looks up at Joe and the Ekros and then looks at Ramster and says "Tamounda!" and points at one of the slips of paper with his tail! What? Tamounda is betting against Joe? You look at Lottatax and see Lottatax already has a bunch of slips of paper in his mouth!

You crouch down next to your mon friends and glance over your shoulder at Joe and then you look back at your mon friends and whisper to them!

"Please help Joe capture Ekro!"

Ramster looks at the slips of paper and then crumples them up and nods his head and says "Ram-ram!" and then he watches the three Ekros flying around for a moment and then Ramster jumps at one of them!


Ramster attacks with Horns!

It really hurts Ekro2!


Ramster hits the Ekro with his horns and the Ekro disappears!

Lottatax stretches out his tongue and slaps another one of the Ekros with it!


Lottatax attacks with Tongue!

It hurts Ekro3!


When Lottatax hits the Ekro with his tongue, the Ekro disappears just like the other Ekro did! Now you know which one is the real one!

What? You already knew which one was the real Ekro?

Ekro flies past Tamounda and Tamounda says "Tamounda!"

Ekro says "Tamounda!"


Tamounda attacks with Tail!

Ekro1 dodges the attack!

Ekro1 attacks with Flap!

Tamounda can't see!

Ekro1 is fleeing the fight!

"You can do it, Joe!"

Joe waits until Ekro is almost above him and then he throws the snare up in the air and lassos Ekro's foot!

You can't believe it! Joe caught Ekr-

Suddenly Ekro flaps his wings and drags Joe across the room! It seems like Ekro is a lot stronger than he looks! Joe gets dragged around the room toward where JP is sitting on one of the couches and then Joe sticks out his leg and plants his foot on the couch and knocks JP on the floor!

Ekro flies around in a circle faster and faster but he can't go anywhere because Joe is braced against the couch! Joe is really gritting his teeth! It looks like he can't hold on much longer! Maybe you should do something to help!

When you look around you see a mini sleep bomb on the floor and then you crouch down and pick it up and look at it! It seems easy to use! You stand up and pull out the pin and a purple cloud starts spraying out!

You throw it on the floor in front of Joe and Ekro!

Joe leans back and then shuffles away from the couch and starts walking forward and Ekro flies around on the end of the rope into the purple cloud!


Ekro is getting sleepy!

Cutémon is getting sleepy!


You're starting to get sleepy because Professor Lungwort's house is filling up with the purple cloud! You watch Ekro flying around in a circle and then Ekro lands on the back of the couch and flaps his wings and then he closes his eyes!


Ekro fell asleep!


You can hardly keep your eyes open! It seems like you're going to fall asleep but then JP opens a window and after a few moments the purple cloud starts to disappear and you don't feel sleepy anymore!

When you look out the window you see it's already getting dark outside!

"That was intense!" JP closes the window and brushes herself off and looks at Ekro and then looks at you and Joe. "I've never seen an Ekro in real life before! Are they always this hard to capture?"

"Um, well..." Joe looks at you and smiles and says "It would have been a lot harder without help." Joe ties down Ekro's wings and then looks at you again and smiles. "Thanks. I wouldn't have been able to capture Ekro if it hadn't been for you." Joe looks at Ramster, Tamounda, and Lottatax and says "And you guys."

"Look what I found in the kitchen!" You and Joe look behind you and see JP holding some cups of instant noodles! JP looks at you and asks "Do your mons like instant noodles, Mashi?"

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Lottatax!"

JP boils some water in the kitchen and then you all sit down around the fireplace and eat your cups of instant noodles while you wait for Ekro to wake up.

...

It's pretty good!

What? You just remembered Psykid doesn't have anything to eat except a candy bar? Do you think Psykid would like a cup of instant noodles?

All your mon friends are looking up at you! You crouch down and look over your shoulder at Ekro and then shake your head.

You walk out of Professor Lungwort's house and toward the ocean. After a while you have to walk away from the ocean because the rocks are too steep. You keep walking through the fog but then suddenly you stumble and fall down on the rocks!

...

You can't see anything because the fog is so thick! You don't know where you are! You look around again but you still can't see anything!

"Hello?"

[SFX: rock tumbling]

You can't help crying out! Suddenly you hear a noise behind you!

"Ram-ram!"

What? Ramster is here?

"Ramster? Where are you?"

"Ram-ram!" You hear Ramster again and then you feel something tiny grab your leg! You can't help crying out again but then you see Ramster!

"I'm lost!"

Ramster hops up on your shoulder and sniffs around and then points and says "Ram-ram!" It seems like Ramster smells something! You carefully walk through the fog and after a little while Ramster sniffs again and says "Ram-ram!"

Ramster hops off your shoulder and picks up a candy bar wrapper and sniffs it and holds it up and waves it at you and says "Ram-ram!"

When you look around the fog clears and you see Psykid's cave!


Psykid is challenging Cutémon!


Psykid jumps out of the shadows and glares at you and Ramster!

"You can't have the candy bar."

"That's alright!"

"I already ate it."

Ramster holds up the candy bar wrapper and says "Ram-ram!"

"It was a present!"

"What's a present?"

You hold up the cup of instant noodles!

"This!"

You hold out the cup and Psykid grabs it out of your hands and opens it! You had better tell her how to prepare them!

"I know how!"

What? Psykid already ate the cup of instant noodles without adding water? It seems like she was really hungry!

Suddenly Psykid glares up from the empty cup at you! You can't help taking a step backward!

"Why did you give me that?"

"Being nice feels good!"

"Shoulda took your own advice, kid!"

"Scurl!"

What? You recognize those voices? You look behind you and see Scurl and Gunner!

Scurl glares at you and says "Scurl!"

Gunner looks at Ramster and says "Too bad that Tamounda ain't here!" and then he looks at Psykid and opens a Sleep Bomb and throws it at you!


Cutémon is getting sleepy!

Are you awake yet?

What? You don't know where you are? The last thing you remember was being in Psykid's cave!

You open your eyes but it's too bright and you have to close them again! When you open your eyes again you can see you're inside of a mon crate with a slit opening on one side!

[SFX: rhythmic clattering]

When you look around again you realize you can feel your mon crate swaying a little bit. It seems like you're riding in a train again!

You reach up and adjust your baseball cap and-

What? You just realized you aren't wearing your baseball cap? You look around inside the mon crate but you can't see it anywhere! You reach inside your jacket pocket and feel your travel map, your car key, and your video game, but not your baseball cap!

When you peek out through the slit, Psykid is glaring at you from another mon crate!

"This is your fault."

You open your mouth but before you can say anything Ramster pops up in front of the slit! You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Ramster!"

Ramster sticks some tiny lockpicks in his mouth and says "Rmm-rmm!" and starts fiddling with the lock on your mon crate!

Suddenly you hear a door slide open and Ramster looks away and then crouches down out of sight and when you peek through the slit again you see Gunner walking toward you!

You can't help scooting back against the far side of your mon crate!

Gunner leans down and peers into the slit of your mon crate at you and says "Never thought I'd capture TWO human-type mons with the same sleep bomb! The Traders are gonna have to let me join when I show 'em this haul!"

"Scurl!"


Scurl attacks before Ramster was ready!


Scurl grabs Ramster in a headlock and hops toward your mon crate and holds Ramster up to show him to Gunner. "Scurl!"

Gunner picks up Ramster by the scruff of his neck and says "Thought I got rid of you back in Cape Smelt!"

Ramster kicks his feet and punches with his front paws and says "Ram-ram! Ram-ram!" Gunner slides a window open and you can see trees going by in a blur! It looks like the train is going really fast! Suddenly Gunner tosses Ramster out the window! Ramster says "Ram-raaaaaa-"

What? You just realized the door of your mon crate is loose? It seems like Ramster unlocked your mon crate before Gunner threw him off the train!

Scurl says "Scurl!"

"I'm tired too." Gunner peeks into the slit of Psykid's mon crate and Psykid tries to grab at him but Gunner takes a step back and laughs. "We just gotta get these to my guy in Anvil Acres. Then we can both take a nice long nap." You peek out of the slit in your mon crate and watch Gunner walk toward the door at the back of the train car. Gunner slides the door open and walks through it and the door closes behind him and then Scurl suddenly turns around and looks at you!

You can't help scooting backward to the far end of your mon crate!

Scurl says "Scurl!" and then hops up on a big wood crate and yawns. He looks around and hops off the crate and hops down the aisle and looks at some other crates and yawns again. Scurl looks up at the ceiling and then hops back toward you and Psykid and hops back up on the big wood crate and stretches out and closes his eyes!

[SFX: snoring]

It seems like Scurl is asleep! You watch Scurl for a few moments and then slowly push open the door of your mon crate and climb out!

"Get me out!"

You crouch down next to Psykid's mon crate and give the lock a determined look!

...

You don't know anything about picking locks!

You peek into the slit of Psykid's mon crate.

"I'll get help!"

When you look up at Scurl you see him turn over and get more comfortable! You tip-toe up the aisle past Scurl toward the front of the car but the door is locked! When you tip-toe back down the aisle toward the back of the car and slide the door open a little to peek through it, you see an empty car with a lot of comfy benches. You open the door and walk into the other car and the door closes behind you. When you look around you see an exit door on the side of this car! You don't think you want to open it because you might fall out!

At the other end of this car is a door and when you run down the aisle and slide it open a little and peek through the crack you see another car full of comfy benches with some humans sitting on the benches reading books and newspapers. You probably won't be able to go any further or else all the humans will see you're a Cutémon because you aren't wearing a hat!

You run back up the aisle toward Psykid's mon crate and-

[SFX: train door sliding open]

Suddenly the door at the far end of the car slides open and a human man wearing a uniform walks through! You crouch down between the benches and then crawl underneath one! Do you think he saw you?

The human man walks past your hiding spot to the back of the car and opens the door. "Next stop, Anvil Acres!" The humans in the other car start walking past your hiding spot and crowding around the exit!

What? You just noticed the human man wearing the uniform is walking back up the aisle toward you checking under all of the benches?

It seems like you had better try to get a hat right away! You peek out from the underside of the bench and see a little human boy wearing a hat and walking with the other humans toward the exit door and then your hair stretches out toward him and grabs the hat off his head and starts carrying it back to you and then-

"Mommy, something just stole my hat!"

"What is that?"

"Looks like long hair!"

It seems like the humans can see your hair! Your hair lets go of the hat and gets shorter and shorter but then one of the humans peeks under the bench from the other side and sees the top of your head!

"There's a mon under the bench!"

"It's a wild mon!"

[SFX: screaming]

The humans are scared and crowding around the front of the train car and peeking over the tops of the benches!

"Somebody do something!"

"Where's the conductor?"

"Uh..."

"You're the conductor! Do something!"

The human man wearing the uniform takes a step closer to your hiding spot with one hand held out toward you. "Easy, now! Easy, easy..." The human man wearing the uniform is reaching for you! It seems like you had better get out of here right away!

You crawl out from under the bench and stand up and look at the win-

[SFX: shouting]

"There it is!"

"It's a human-type mon!"

"I didn't think those were real!"

The humans are all looking at you! The human man wearing the uniform jumps back and dives behind one of the benches and peeks over the top at you and then you turn toward the window and push on it with both hands but it doesn't open! It seems like these windows aren't the kind of windows that slide open!

[SFX: train door opening]

"How'd you get loose?"

What? You recognize that voice? When you look over your shoulder you see Gunner walk through the back door of the train car! The door slides closed behind Gunner and then he looks around and looks at you and shifts his stance and says "Relax, everybody. I'm a professional mon tamer."

Gunner opens his jacket and you see a row of Mini Sleep Bombs on the inside of his jacket!

The human man wearing a uniform can't believe it! He peeks over the edge of a bench at Gunner and says "You can't use a sleep bomb in here!"

"Relax, pops." Gunner glares at you and says "This is a dangerous wild mon we're talking about."

It's worth a try. It's better than having their first impression of us being that of beating seemingly random people up on a crowded train. If that fails we can still fall back on VIOLENCE

You give Gunner a determined look but then the train car wobbles and you fall down on the floor in front of Gunner!

Gunner looks down at you and smirks and pulls out one of the mini sleep bombs from the inside of his jacket and says "Lights out, Cutémon." All the other humans are watching you and Gunner!

You can't help crying out!

"Please help me!"

The other humans can't believe it!

"I must be losing it!"

"Did you just hear that?"

"It asked for help!"

Gunner shakes up the mini sleep bomb in his hand and says "It's just a party trick. Now get-"


?????1 attacks before Gunner was ready!

?????1 attacks with Shoe!


Suddenly a shoe hits Gunner on his forehead and he stumbles backward against the train car door!

[SFX: angry human noises]

What? One of the other humans just threw a shoe at Gunner? All of a sudden the other humans seem like they're really angry at Gunner!

"Leave it alone!"

"Poor thing, look how scared it is!"

Gunner can't believe it! He holds his other hand over his forehead and says "You dweebs are interfering with my business operation! I got a right to capture wild mons!"

"I'm not a wild mon!"

You meant to say that out loud!

Gunner glances at you and then looks at the other humans and says "Some party trick, huh?"

The other humans are looking at each other! It seems like you had better say something else!

"My trainer is Joe Apple!"

The humans can't believe it! You hear them whispering to each other and then the human man wearing the uniform nods and looks at you. "Uh... WHAT! TOWN! DOES! JOE! APPLE! LIVE! IN!"

What? The human man just shouted all that? You don't know why he shouted it but you had better answer him!

"Patina!"

The humans are looking at each other again!

"Patina... There's a gas station there."

You're nodding your head!

"His mom Jane owns it!"

The humans are nodding at you! "Say, that's right! Jane Apple runs that gas station!"


Gunner attacks before Cutémon was ready!

Gunner attacks with Grapple!


Gunner grabs your arm! "Hey, I got all the proper paperwork!"


?????2 attacks with Shoe!

Gunner is fleeing the fight!


Another human throws a shoe at Gunner!

Gunner lets go of your arm and then pushes open the door behind him and backs up into the next train car! The door slides closed behind him and then you look behind you and see all the other humans staring at you.

All the other humans are staring at you! You can't help your cheeksturning red!

"What should we do with it?"

"Aren't we supposed to call the police?"

"You're the conductor, do something!"

You give the humans your cutest look!

"Please help Psykid too!"

The conductor leans forward. "Does this. Psykid. Belong to. Joe Apple?"

It seems like you'll have to lie and tell him that Psykid is Joe's mon!

What? You want me to ask you something so you can nod your head?

You're nodding your... hey!

[SFX: train door sliding open]

"Hands off the merchandise!" Gunner looks at the other humans. "I told ya I got all the paperwork right here!"

The other humans are glaring at the conductor! The conductor looks at Gunner and then looks at all the other humans and nods. "Alright, I'll go take a look."

[SFX: train whistle]

It feels like the train is slowing down! You and the conductor walk through the crowd of humans with Gunner behind you and some of the other humans into the train car with all the boxes and crates. Scurl is still sleeping on top of the big wooden crate!

Gunner glares up at him and says "Wake up, ya idiot!"

Scurl opens his eyes and says "Scurl!"

The conductor peeks into Psykid's mon crate and then looks at you and Gunner. "There's nothing in there."

Gunner can't believe it! He peeks into Psykid's mon crate and then glares at Scurl. "I told you to watch them!"

It seems like Psykid escaped!

[SFX: train whistle]

The train car stops moving and then the side of the train car opens up and you see a bunch of trees and some buildings!

Suddenly you feel something grab your arm!

What? The little human boy is holding your arm? He takes off his hat and holds it up to you! It seems like he's giving it to you!

You take the little human boy's hat and put it on and then smile at him!

"Thank you!"

Gunner glances around and then jumps out the door onto the ground. The conductor shouts "Hold it! You're in trouble for trying to open a sleep bomb on the train!"

"Later, loser! Come on, Scurl!" Gunner runs away and Scurl hops after him!

The conductor can't believe it! "Police!"

A moment later you see two human men wearing police uniforms running toward the train. The conductor looks down at them and says "Some guy tried to open a sleep bomb in a car full of passengers! He was traveling with some mons and-"


Effects of Evade ended.


All of a sudden Psykid appears in her mon crate! It looks like she's sleeping! It's probably because she's out of energy from using Evade for so long!

"Unclaimed mons get taken to the police station." One of the policemen peeks inside. "A human-type mon! Is this his mon?"

"Well, it's complicated. There was a Scurl and another mon-" The conductor looks around. "Where'd it go?"

You don't think you want to be taken to the police station! You peek out from your hiding spot and see the two policemen pick up Psykid's mon crate and carry it past your hiding spot!

You watch the two policemen carry Psykid's mon crate up the street and then you look around to make sure none of the other humans are watching. It seems like the conductor and the other humans are all busy! You look around again and then you sneak out from under the train car and follow the two policemen up the street. After a little while you see a big square building at the top of the hill. That must be the police station! The two policemen carry Psykid's mon crate up the steps to the front door and open it and walk inside and the door closes behind them.

Are you really going to go inside the police station?

You look up at the police station and then you give the door a determined look and walk up the steps toward it! You've really gotten brave about going into human buildings! You walk up to the door and grab the door handle and open the door and walk through the doorway!

[SFX: alarm]

WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU BECAUSE OF TH-

[SFX: alarm stops]

It seems like there's a mon detector!

"Hey kid, mons aren't allowed in the police station!" One of the policemen behind a counter is looking at you! He leans forward over the counter and says "Take it back outside!"

You can see the other two policemen carrying Psykid's mon crate behind him! You take another step forward but then the policeman stands up and steps around the counter and starts walking toward you!

You can't help taking a step backward!

The policeman is still walking toward you! You had better do something quickly!

"Sorry!"

You turn around and grab the door handle and open the door and run back out of the police station and down the steps and then run around the corner and hide! You peek around the corner but you don't see him.

...

It seems like the policeman isn't coming outside! You peek around the corner again and then suddenly you hear a voice behind you!

"Well, if it ain't my old pal Mashi!"

What? You think you recognize that voice? It's your human friend Katie Redfern!

"Katie!"

You give Katie a hug and she hugs you back. "Didn't expect to find a big-city mon trainer like you in Anvil Acres. New hat, huh?" Katie looks around behind you and then looks at you and says "Where's that lil' Ramster of yours?"

You don't know what to say!

Katie is looking at you closely! "You feelin' alright, Mashi?" It seems like Katie can tell you're upset!

You look at the police station and then look at Katie again.

"Can you keep a secret?"

Katie nods. "Well, sure!"

You point at the police station.

"There's a Psykid in there!"

Katie looks at you again. "What's that?"

"A human-type mon!"

Katie can't believe it! "Really? I ain't never seen a human-type mon before!"

...

Katie looks at the police station again. "Is it locked up behind bars in the jail?"

You're shaking your head!

"She's in a mon crate!"

Katie looks back at you. "She?" Katie looks at the police station again and then looks at you. "Did you capture her to go with your Ramster?"

You don't know what to say!

"Well, I guess it don't matter any, does it? She ain't supposed to be in there, is she?"

You're shaking your... what? You're starting to cry?

"It's my fault!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud!

"Aw, no it ain't!" Katie is hugging you!

"I made her get captured!"

Katie stands up all the way and crosses her arms and grins at you. "Well, then we're just gonna have to bust her out together, ain't we?" What? Katie is volunteering to help you rescue Psykid from-

[SFX: stomach rumbling]

Katie grins at you again. "There's plenty of food back at the rodeo." She starts walking away from the police station and says "Come on, we'll figure something out."

"Rodeo?"

Katie looks over her shoulder at you. "Sure, ain't that why you're in town?" Katie leads you to a big open area with lots of board fences and a really big brown shape behind the fence and a big crowd of humans in the stands! It sort of looks like an outdoor mon arena!

What? You just realized you know the really big brown shape? It's Terrabull!

When you and Katie get closer to the fence you see Katie's dad Cliff Redfern waiting with Terrabull and some other humans and mons on the other side of the board fence. Katie pats your shoulder and says "I'll be right back."

"Well, haven't seen you for a while!" Cliff is smiling at you from the other side of the fence! "Where's your Ramster?"

You still don't know what to say!

Terrabull leans over the top of the fence and looks down at you and says "TURR-BULL!"

You look up at Terrabull and smile!

"Hi, Terrabull!"

Terrabull sniffs and when you look behind you Katie is there with some nachos! You've never had nachos before!

...

They're delicious!

"Thank you, Katie!"

"You ever been to a rodeo before, Mashi?"

You're shaking your head!

"Well, Terrabull has been the champion mon at this rodeo for the last three years." Katie points at some humans and says "They're gonna try to stay on top of the mons while the mons try to buck 'em off. The grand prize is 100 coins but nobody's gonna win it 'cause Terrabull can't be beat!"

"Shoot, I bet Terrabull could knock over that lil' old police station. Couldn't ya, Terrabull?" Katie starts to raise her hand up to scratch Terrabull's chin but then Cliff turns back around!

"What's this about a police station, Katie?"

"Nothin', Pa!" Katie looks up at Terrabull and whispers "Forget I said anything, Terrabull!"

Terrabull looks down at Katie and says "TURR-BULL!"

Even if Terrabull can't help, it might be easier to rescue Psykid if you had other mons to help!

You glance at the forest and when you look back at Katie she's looking at you. "What's wrong, Mashi?"

"I need a mon!"

"A mon? You mean you wanna go out and capture one?" Katie looks at Terrabull and says "But I'm supposed to be here to watch Terrabull." It seems like Katie won't be able to help you, even though she wants to!

You smile at Katie.

"That's alright!"

Well, if you're going to try to find a wild mon, you had better get started right away! You walk away from the rodeo and then you walk out of town toward the hills and-

"Hey, Mashi!"

What? Katie is running after you? Katie catches up to you and says "Here, thought you could use this." Katie hands you some rope. "Well, big-city mon trainer? What do we do now?" It seems like Katie is going to help you after all! You hug Katie and then you point at the forest.

"Look for mons!"

You and Katie keep walking up into the hills. When you get to the edge of the forest Katie points and whispers "Hey, what's that?" You look where Katie is pointing and see a Dinglow standing at the edge of the trees! Dinglow looks up and sees you!


Dinglow is fleeing the fight!


Dinglow trots into the forest and disappears! Katie shrugs and grins. "Lots of mons around here, right?"

You and Katie walk into the forest and after a while you walk out into a clearing and see a Jackdash sitting up in the open! Jackdash turns his head and looks at you!


Jackdash is fleeing the fight!


Jackdash kicks his back feet together and races away!

It seems like capturing mons is a lot harder than fighting them! You and Katie keep walking and after a while Katie says "Whaddya say we make camp here? Let's grab some firewood before it gets too dark to see." You and Katie pick up firewood and then Katie takes out her campfire kit and lights a campfire.

What? You're thinking about Joe's campfire kit?

You and Katie camp out under the stars and then you close your eyes for a moment.

When you open your eyes you see another Cutémon grinning down at you!

What? You think this Cutémon looks strange? You look at Katie sleeping next to the fire and then you look up at the strange Cutémon.

"Are you a Cutémon?"

"Yeah!"

You sit up and give the strange Cutémon a determined look!

"Are you challenging me?"

"Yeah!"

What? You just realized the strange Cutémon hasn't challenged you yet? The strange Cutémon is still just grinning at you and swaying back and forth! You reach over and grab the rope and glance up at the strange Cutémon and then look down at the rope in your hands.

...You don't know how to tie knots very well!

When you look up, the strange Cutémon is still just standing there watching you try to make a snare. It seems like it might be easier to just challenge the strange Cutémon! You scramble to your feet and then reach up and grab the hat that the little human boy on the train gave you but when you start to take it off you remember you don't want Katie to know you're really a Cutémon and not a human girl!

Are you really going to leave your hat on even though you won't be able to use Hair Pin or Overbite?

Cutémon1 is challenging Cutémon2!

Cutémon1 attacks with Bite!

It hurts Cutémon2!


You jump up and bite the strange Cutémon's arm!

The strange Cutémon is still just grinning at you!

You let go of the other Cutémon's arm and stand up and look at the other Cutémon.

"Are you really fighting me?"

"Yeah!"


Cutémon2 is using Sway!


The other Cutémon is grinning at you and swaying back and forth. You start to sway back and forth and then you look at the other Cutémon and grin.

"We're friends!"

"Yeah!"

This is pretty nice! You keep swaying back and forth and- What? You don't remember why you and the other Cutémon are friends?


Cutémon2 is using Sway!


You sway back and forth and grin at the other Cutémon.

"Huh? Mashi?" You and the other Cutémon both look over at Katie as she sits up and rubs her eyes. "You got a twin sister?"

The other human girl grins at Katie and sways back and forth.

"Yeah!"


Doppal is using Sway!


Katie and the other human girl are just swaying back and forth and grinning at each other! Katie grins at the other human girl and says "We should do this more often!"

"Yeah!"

It seems like the other Cutémon was really a Doppal!

The other Cutémon is grinning at your hat! It seems like she really wants it! You reach up and grab your hat with both hands!

You take off your hat and give it to the other Cutémon!

Katie can't believe it!

What? You just took off your hat in front of Katie? When you realize what you did you can't help looking at Katie with all four of your eyes! Katie scoots backward and then stands up and takes a step backward and says "You're... a mon!" Katie takes another step backward and then her legs go limp and she falls down in the grass!


Katie passed out!


You run toward Katie and crouch down next to her and try to pick her up off the ground but then you notice Doppal standing over you and Katie grinning down at you and wearing your hat! You look up at Doppal!

"This is your fault!"

Doppal says "Yeah!"

Katie opens her eyes and looks around and says "Wha..." and then she looks at all four of your eyes and can't help crying out again!


Katie passed out!


Doppal is still wearing your hat! You reach up and grab your hat but Doppal leans backward and when you reach for it you fall forward onto the grass next to Katie!


Doppal is fleeing the fight!


When you look up you see the other Cutémon running away from you toward the trees! You stand up and start to chase after Doppal but then you glance backward at the campfire and see Katie sit up!

What? You just realized you don't know what Doppal looks like when it doesn't look like a Cutémon or a human girl?

Katie has a strange expression on her face! Suddenly Katie stands up and says "You really are the same old Mashi, aren't ya?" Katie climbs over the log and walks toward you and-

What? You just noticed Katie is crying? "I'm sorry, Mashi! I didn't mean to be rude!"

You give Katie a big hug!

"No wonder Hairgrazer liked ya so much." You and Katie hug each other for a little while and then you notice the sun is starting to come up. Katie lets go of you. "I don't know much about mons." She looks at your outer fangs. "Do mons like you have a name like Hairgrazer or Terrabull?"

"Cutémon!"

"Cutémon, huh?" Katie looks at you.

Katie is still looking at you! "A fella can't tell you're not a human with a hat on."

You're nodding your head! It seems like you know a lot more about mons than Katie does!

"Human-type mon."

Katie walks back to the campfire and kicks dirt over it to put it out and then she looks back at you. "How many human-type mons are there besides you and this Psykid?"

You walk toward Katie and think about all the human-type mons you've met!

"Ward... Auroara... Aura... Prima... and Rori!"

Aren't you forgetting someone?

"And Professor Lungwort!"

Katie looks up from the campfire at you. "A professor?"

"He was really a Spyjak."

"Is there anything else that looks different?" Katie leans back and looks at your behind. "You got a tail or something?" What? Katie thinks you might have a tail? You can't help holding your hands behind you!

"I don't have a tail!"

Maybe you should show Katie your special Cutémon abilities!

Cutémon is using Hair Pin!


Your hair stretches out and waves around and picks up Katie's hat off of her head and then puts it back on her head!

Katie can't believe it! "Can you do anything else?"


Cutémon is using Overbite!


You concentrate and make your outer fangs grow bigger and longer until they reach past your chin and your teeth get bigger and sharper until they can hardly fit in your mouth!

Katie adjust her hat and looks at your outer fangs and says "Why do you need any help busting that Psykid out?"

"Mon detector."

"Oh, right." Katie glances at your top eyes. "Well, guess there's only one thing to do." Katie reaches up and takes off her hat and gives it to you!

"Thank you, Katie!"

"Only until we find you a new one!"

Katie wraps her little finger around your little finger and then closes her eyes for a moment. It seems like she's thinking about something! Katie opens her eyes and looks at your little fingers and says "I swear I ain't never gonna tell nobody that Mashi ain't a human girl, or may a Sparkelope strike me down if I do."

Katie looks up at you. "Alright, now it's official." It seems like pinkie swears are pretty important! You don't think Katie will break her promise now that she made a pinkie swear with you! "Come on, let's get back to down. I'm starving."

You and Katie start walking back through the forest toward Anvil Acres. After a little while Katie glances at you and asks "Does that lil' Ramster know you're a mon?"

You're nodding your head!

"We made a deal!"

Katie is grinning! "He was in on it!"

"And Tamounda and Lottatax."

"You mean you had THREE other mons in on it? Golly, that must have been a real circus!" Katie glances at you again. "What happened to 'em?"

"I got captured with Psykid."

Katie can't believe it! "Captured? You?" Katie keeps walking but then she says "How'd that happen?"

It seems like you had better start at the beginning!

"We were all with Joe."

"Joe? Who's that?" Katie is looking at you! You can't help your cheeks turning red!

"He's a boy..."

"A BOY?" Katie is grinning at you now! "Mashi, you didn't tell me nothing about a boy!"

What? You want my help explaining things to Katie? It's pretty hard to explain, isn't it? Well, maybe you should just tell her that for now!

You look up and see Catscan glaring down at you from the edge of a rooftop!

What? You just remembered Gunner said he was going to meet one of the Traders in Anvil Acres?

That means Trent and Catscan are here looking for two human-type mons!

Catscan's eyes flash and suddenly a burst of invisible energy strikes you so hard that a crater forms and you and Katie get knocked in opposite directions! You feel like your skin is on fire!


It really hurts!


Katie pushes herself up on her elbows and says "Mashi!"

You look at Katie and then you look back at Catscan just in time to see Catscan jumping off the ledge at you!


Catscan attacks with Claws!

It hurts!


Catscan swipes at you as he passes by and Katie's hat gets knocked off your head!


Cutémon attacks with Hair Pin!

Catscan tries to dodge!

Catscan can't dodge!

It hurts Catscan!


Catscan lands on the ground and sees your hair stretching out toward him and he tries to jump away but your hair wraps around his foot and pulls him back and wraps around him and squeezes him! Suddenly Catscan turns his head and glares at you and says "Catscannn..." and then his eyes flash!


Catscan attacks with Tele-Fission!

Cutémon can hardly stand the pain!


The blast of hot energy hurts so much that it makes your hair go limp and you can't help crying out! Your hair drops Catscan and he jumps away from you!

Katie shouts "Get outta here!" at Catscan but then Catscan turns his head and glares at Katie!

Katie can't help crying out!

"Scurl!"

What? Now Scurl is here? You look behind you and see Scurl standing in the road wearing Katie's hat with his arms crossed in front of him!


Scurl attacks with Tail Slice!

It hurts!


Scurl says "Scurl!" and flicks his tail and a wave of air digs a trench down the middle of the road toward you and knocks you backward!

Catscan says "Catscannn..." and takes a step closer to you from behind!

Scurl says "Scurl! and hops closer in front of you!

You turn sideways and take a few steps backward until you're next to Katie! You glance at Scurl and then glance at Catscan.

Catscan glances at you and then glances at Scurl.

Scurl glances at Catscan and then glances at you.

[SFX: wind blowing]

It seems like everybody is waiting for someone to make the first move!

Suddenly you hear the sound of Scurl shifting his stance and then Scurl hops toward you!

Catscan crouches down and jumps at you at the same time!


Cutémon is using Trip!


You stick out your foot just as Scurl lands in front of you to hop at you and he trips and falls toward Catscan as Catscan is jumping through the air! Scurl looks at Catscan just as Catscan claws him in the face!


Catscan attacks Scurl with Claws!

Scurl attacks Catscan with Strongarm!

Catscan attacks with Tele-Fission!

Scurl attacks with Tail Slice!


Catscan and Scurl are really going at it! You see Katie's hat get knocked off Scurl's head and you grab it and put it on and then you look at Katie and you both run away while Scurl and Catscan are fighting each other! When you look back you see them suddenly stop fighting with Scurl holding Catscan in a headlock! Scurl and Catscan look around and see you running away and then Scurl lets go of Catscan and they both start chasing after you and Katie! You had better do something right away!

What? You want my help figuring out what to do? Well, what would Ramster do if he was here?

"Split up!"

Katie looks at you while you're both running and nods and says "We'll meet up at Terrabull's corral!" When you get to an intersection Katie says "Good luck!" and then she runs up the street one way and you run down the street the other way!

You run down the street and... What? You think this street looks familiar? That's because you're headed for the police station!

Suddenly you see Trent and Gunner standing outside the police station! You stop and hide behind the corner of the police station and peek around the corner at them but it seems like they didn't see you! When you peek around the corner again you see Trent and Gunner arguing with each other!

Gunner holds up a piece of paper and says "I'm the one with the fake mon license for that Psykid."

"Yeah, but now you're wanted by the cops. Can't show your face in there, can you?" Trent smirks at Gunner. "I'll give you 500 coins for it."

Gunner can't believe it! "You said 1000 coins!"

Trent shrugs and says "That offer was for two human-type mons."

"Hey, you said 1000 for each!"

Trent shrugs again. "Take it or leave it."

Gunner is glaring at Trent! It seems like he's thinking about something mean! Finally Gunner nods his head. "Alright, 500 coins. Pay up."

"You'll get paid after I make sure there really even is a human-type mon in the crate. Gimme that license so I can go claim it."

"If I give you the license you'll walk out with my Psykid!"

Trent holds out his hands and shrugs at Gunner. "What's the matter, don't you trust me?"

"Would you?" Gunner is glaring at Trent!

Suddenly a big shadow leans in behind you!

"Scurl!"


Scurl attacks before Cutémon was ready!

Scurl attacks with Strongarm!

Cutémon can't move!


Scurl grabs you in a headlock and says "Scurl!" Gunner and Trent look up as Scurl hops toward them dragging you and then Gunner grabs Katie's hat and lifts it off your head! "This is the other human-type mon that got loose!"

Trent is looking at you! "Yeah, I'm not surprised. I recognize this mon. We've been trying to find her for a while."

"Told ya there were two human-type mons. You believe me now about that Psykid?"

Trent stands up all the way and looks down at you again. "Yeah, I guess maybe I do, now that I know this one's involved."

"Hold it downwind, Scurl." Gunner opens his jacket and grabs one of his Mini Sleep Bombs!

Look out!


Cutémon attacks with Bite!

It hurts Scurl!


You bite Scurl's arm and he says "Scurl!" and lets go and then you turn around and see Catscan glaring at you!


Catscan attacks with TK Drain!

Cutémon can hardly stand the pain!


Catscan says "Catscannn..." and then his eyes flash and then suddenly your skin feels like it's on fire! You can hardly move because it hurts so much! You stumble backward and-


Scurl attacks with Tail!

It really hurts!


Scurl says "Scurl!" and knocks you down onto the street with his tail and then hops toward you! "Scurl!"

Catscan says "Catscannn..." and slinks toward you! "Catscannn..."

You scramble to your feet and then crouch down and give Scurl and Catscan a determined look and concentrate on making your outer fangs get bigger!


Cutémon attacks with Overbite!

Not enough energy.


Even though you're trying as hard as you can to make your outer fangs grow bigger, you can't make them do anything!


Scurl attacks with Double Kick!

Catscan attacks with Claws!


Catscan leaps at you and slashes at you with his claws and then Scurl jumps up and kicks you with both feet at the same time and knocks you down onto the street! When you sit up you see Catscan and Scurl crouching down to attack!

It seems like you're really in trouble! Catscan and Scurl are both really strong, and you don't have a lot of energy right now!

"Catscan, hurry up and take her out." Trent glances at Gunner and Scurl. "Then we can get this Psykid."

Gunner sees Trent looking at him and says "Yeah, Scurl, take it out and then we'll get OUR Psykid back."

Trent and Gunner are glaring at each other! Catscan and Scurl glance at each other and then they both look at you and take another step forward! You had better do something right away!

What? You want my help thinking of something to do? Well, what could you say that would really make Trent really mad?

"Psykid already escaped!"

Trent can't believe it! "I knew it!"


Trent attacks before Gunner was ready!

Trent attacks with Fist!


Trent punches Gunner and knocks him down! "That's for trying to rip me off!"

Gunner drops Katie's hat on the ground when he falls down but then Gunner leaps at Trent and punches him in the stomach! Trent grabs Gunner's jacket and Gunner grabs Trent's jacket and they both punch each other again!

You grab Katie's hat and start to run back up the street away from the police station!

Scurl waves his paws at Gunner and points at you and says "Scurl! Scurl!"

Catscan looks at you and then looks at Trent and yowls "Catscannn..."

You keep running up the street and then run around a corner but then you have to stop to catch your breath because you don't have very much energy left! You turn Katie's hat over to put it on and...

What? You just noticed something stuck to the inside of Katie's hat? It's the fake mon license for Psykid! You put Katie's hat on your head and then put the fake mon license in your jacket pocket. When you peek back around the corner Trent and Gunner are rolling around on the ground punching each other! It looks like Catscan and Scurl are taking bets!

You turn around and keep walking up the street and walk the rest of the way to the rodeo. When you get to the rodeo you see Terrabull and when you get closer you see Katie standing next to the fence! When Katie sees you she waves at you!

"Mashi! You alright?"

You're nodding your head! You reach into your jacket pocket and take out the fake mon license and show it to Katie.

"Psykid's mon license!"

Katie holds up the mon license and glances at you and looks back at the license. "We gonna use this to spring that Psykid?"

"It's a fake!"

Katie looks at the license more closely. "Looks pretty official to me." Katie looks up at you and says "If it ain't a real mon license, don't that mean Psykid ain't supposed to be in that crate in the first place?" She looks at the license again. "I don't know what they'd do with an unclaimed mon."

Katie tries to hand the fake mon license back to you but you shake your head and push it back into her hand.

"Will you tell them?"

"The police?" Katie glances at Cliff and Terrabull. "Sure, let's go now." You and Katie walk back toward the police station and Katie walks up to the door. When she goes inside you peek through the open crack and watch her walk through the mon detector and up to the counter where the policeman is sitting.

When the policeman notices Katie, he looks over the counter at her. "Need something, kid?"

"Well, y'see," Katie holds the fake mon license out to the policeman. "This here's a fake mon license for a Psykid y'all got back there. The fella who had it wasn't supposed to. "

The policeman takes the fake mon license and looks at it carefully and says "Hey, you're right! This is a forgery!" He looks up at Katie. "Where'd you get this?"

Katie glances at you and then back at the policeman behind the counter. "You gonna let her out?"

"Her?" The other policeman you saw before walks out from the back room toward the counter.

"This kid brought in the license for that human-type mon. It's a fake."

"A fake?" The other policeman looks at the mon license and then looks at the other policeman. "What're we supposed to do about it?"

"Let's see what the book says." The policeman reaches under the counter and brings out a big book and starts flipping through the pages for a few moments and then he starts reading out loud. "Unclaimed mons are supposed to be sold at a mon auction... we're supposed to post notices about the auction..."

The other policeman looks at Katie. "Sounds like a lot of work... and this kid is right here..."

"She seems honest..." He looks at Katie and says "And you say you know where this mon is supposed to be?"

Katie is nodding her head! "Sure do! She's a friend of a friend."

The two policemen look at each other again. "Might as well give her the mon crate." He looks at Katie and says "Go on outside around the back of the building and we'll bring it out."

Katie can't believe it! She glances back at you and then looks over the counter at the policeman. "Thanks, mister!" Katie walks back through the mon detector and opens the door and grins at you and whispers "Did you hear that?"

You're nodding your head!

"Yeah!"

The two policemen carry the crate outside and then one of the policemen unlocks the mon crate with a master key. "You kids got it from here?"

You and Katie nod and then the policemen go back inside and you open Psykid's mon crate!


Psykid is fleeing the fight!


As soon as you open the crate, Psykid jumps out and runs away as quickly as she can!

What? Psykid ran away without even saying anything?

"This was all your fault."

...

Well, even if Psykid is upset, you rescued her just like you wanted to!

"Aw, shucks, I owed you for helping me un-rustle all our Hairgrazers." Katie puts her arm around you and says "Besides, it ain't every day you find out your friend is a Cutémon!" It seems like Katie really does think you're her friend!

You and Katie walk together back toward the rodeo and when you get there you can see Terrabull and Cliff getting ready to leave. Terrabull looks at you and Katie and says "TURR-BULL!"

Cliff looks at Katie and crosses his arms and says "Nice of you to stop by."

"Sorry, pa." Katie looks at you and says "Mashi has been showing me how to be a mon trainer."

"Learning from the best, huh?" Cliff grins at you and then looks at Katie. "Time to head home."

Katie looks at you. "Any idea where Joe might be?"

You take out your travel map and look at it.

What? You just remembered Joe and JP were going to take Onlion to JP's laboratory? Do you remember where JP said her lab was?

"Tinville!"

"That's a ways from anywhere." Katie points at a spot on the map. "Anvil Acres is right about here."

When you look at the spot Katie is pointing at, it seems like you're not very far away from the ancient tower that was circled on the map you found in Professor Lungwort's house!

Professor Lungwort thought that tower might have an ancient human inside of it and you were thinking about going there because Professor Holly told you the ancient humans were supposed to know everything and you want to know how to turn off the Cutécaptor!

Katie looks up from the map at you. "If you want, you can ride with me and pa as far as our place."
