Today is truly a monumentous occasion, not only because it is one of the blessed days the palace of natural laws sect's tournament is being hosted, or because you've trained a bunch of toddler moon rabbits to be ready to cultivate years before any human kid could, or even because five colors came to visit and knock some sense into the five fallen dieties before they did something foolish like try to kill your, or even that you learned humans could be turned into cats if they were lucky enough to have the right spiritual root and physiques. No, today was especially important because the Thousand Lotus Hall sect had joined the Tomb, The Mountain, and The sea alliance, turning it into The Tomb, the mountain, the sea and the garden! And besides that, more exciting, was that it looked like the last few rounds of the foundation establishment realm martial arts contest would all be your disciples.
A sect wide achievement that would surely improve your temple's reputation as one of the most fierce. It isn't too surprising, either, since your students have cut their teeth and honed their claws fighting fierce ghosts and the other sects present in real, lethal combat before. And of course, their techniques, martial styles and talents are nearly unheard of in this era. Once more, like the master, the element of surprise and the unknown abilities they posses and train and hone is one of their greatest advantages
And, sure, you might drift off and nap for a few of them, knowing almost instinctively which disciple will beat who in any match up since you've trained them all and know pretty much all the tricks they keep up their sleeves and the levels they've trained and refined their technique and sorcery, but you do try to pay attention to the spars you haven't seen yet closely and to commentate excitedly for the duels that aren't as one sided as say, Huli verses the incredibly unfortunate wooden style rogue he got set up against after his first round win against Hong.
Qinxin and Ping, for example is most exciting, as the two are well informed of the others styles and have fought side by side often but never against eachother. That match comes down to Ping's ghost qi infused arm granting him a slight advantage over the former Ling subordinate, as well as the white haired monk's secret of an unbeating heart, which he uses to trick Qinxin into believing he struck him dead from a wild desperation attack of one of the Guardians of celestial sunlight's sword techniques, which Ping uses to catch him unaware and nearly blow his sword arm off with a cleverly used dying grudge shield barrier spell.

You imagine because even the most bloodthirsty of contestants dare not risk drawing your ire, even if you wouldn't care if a few more of the sword maniacs from the seven slaughtering swords got cut down so they'd get the hint and stop trying to strike up a friendship with the palace of natural laws.
Feiqing, Ping, Fu and Qiang end up being the last four. Qiang beats Ping, having studied him and his habits intensively and countering his exorcists arts by slapping cursed seals on his arm and then forcing him to concede by possessing his body and strangling it with his own hand while hers is...out of commission due to a really nasty mantra Ping learned from one of Ao's generals, you think it was the deer archer... And Fu and Feiqing shake the earth in their battle, with Feiqing's demon blood body, soft style and lightning messenger techniques giving the two axe warrior a hell of a time to crack his defenses, but Fu's sheer brutality and...well, seeming inability to die considering Feiqing hit him four times with a lightning summoning punch that is a sure kill technique at their level, earns him the win.
Then its Fu and Qiang for the finale. Which is exciting for the crowd and really stirs the betting pools as nearly everyone in attendances bets something on the outcome. And despite Fu mentioning Qiang deserved a reward, since he had already won his in the form of the incredibly rare and treasured pure blood Qi, both promise under oath to fight like their lives depend on it.
And, what that means for a former reformed assassin and a young man who can get his head cut or ripped off or calmly fight with his guts spilling out or any number of gruesome spine tingling injuries, quickly makes the crowds excitement turn to silent horror and grisly fascination as the two perhaps most dangerous fighters of your sect go head to head and hold nothing back.
And you admit, you might have gotten a little carried away egging them on. But, the fight doesn't end in one of your students being forcefully turned into a ghost, and the other having the weight of murdering one of their fellow disciples on their conscious.
Qiang, surprisingly, wins despite the gap of four stages between her and Fu. And that's because Fu is a warrior and despite Qiang's decision to go from assassin to swordswoman, her skills are still an assassins, even as a cultivator. Fu can take a lot of punishment, but even while possessed by his strongest spirits, Qiang hits his vitals to often for him to last long enough to knock her out.
The specter lightness skill, phantom cat step, vein hunting eye and every other technique Qiang has learned of your ruler of the great wheel's law, earns her the win.

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:+ZCo6lsq Sat 26 Apr 2025 05:27:08 No. 6229803 Report >>6229801 That, and when Fu tries to use the blood qi you gifted him, Qiang switches from using ghostly Qi, to pure blood Qi and ends the fight by using her slightly more well trained blood control to steal the life essence Fu tried to use to keep standing despite...er, having two of Qiang's swords thrust through his throat and into his torso, sticking out from his rib cage.
And that doesn't harm him enough to need immediate medical attention.
Fu can be pretty scary. But then again, Qiang won while holding both her arms in place with blood Qi strings and having a bruise across her stomach that turned out to be the result of a few ruptured organs that you had to fix while she and Fu collapsed and nearly died right after the match was called in her favor!
Fu has attained Foundation establishment rank 7. Qiang has attained foundation establishment rank 3
And, while you'd always meant for the winner to receive a special organ crafted from your expert hand through blood alchemy and underworld alchemy, that Qiang won means you're going to have to make her an eye since...well, it'd feel like bullying if you gave her any other kind of hidden organ.
But while you try and figure out exactly what magical properties you're going to implant into her new eye, you and your sister Xuebai force Monu out of the silk couch she's plopped herself into, forcefully detox her of wine and opium and get her to stretch and exercise for the start of her preparations for the core formation stage.
And you "covertly" check to see how many people signed up for the golden core formation bracket. As you expected, most of the attending sect's sect heads and a few of their elders are taking part, and so are the five former divinities. Su Zhe'xinglu (who is still only a core formation expert) and Lian Tianhua are not, and neither is the head of the sages of shifting sands who, despite being a loudmouth, didn't seem brave enough to risk fighting the Huanliuxue in a no holds bared rings match.
All in all, there are barely more than a dozen rivals you have to worry about fighting, one of them is your subordinate who already thinks fighting you and winning is impossible and five are former immortals. Out of all the thousands of cultivators in Chuan, there are so few golden cores amongst them.
And, admittedly
You did kill a few of them personally before your neighbors learned to stop trying to kill you and seek understanding instead of violence with the big, scary, man eating and ghost cultivating monstrous house cat. And that same understanding also means that, not every golden core cultivator in the kingdom is taking part in the contests, since it is common sense that Huanliuxue isn't beatable. So the dozen or so who are, either have a bone to pick with another sect head or simply want to test to see just how powerful you really are

They seem to be able to see someone's karma. Maybe some kind of soul vision? Or maybe they just see "truth" in some fashion. Though I am tempted to give her a demonic eye.
>Feed her the strongest poisons to be found in hell and help her improve her own collection of inner toxins! She likes her gu, so lets expand it. But the bone centipede venom will do the same thing technically, it seems to be very specifically good at what it does and not much else, whereas the demon poisons probably encompass a great many more things than just BONE JUICING. Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:vF5ZYTdy Tue 29 Apr 2025 04:47:46 No. 6231624 Report "A Gu insect fashioned into an eye?" Monu asks as she lays flat on a stone bed that looks too much like a grave plinth for even your skewed sensibilities, as you focus on forcing the internal Gu you keep on producing as much Sinner Bone Centipede venom as the nutrients and spiritual energy can handle, the taste of the gathering toxin oozing out to fill your mouth making your head swim "There are old stories of the worse sorts of poison experts in eras past turning themselves into monsters replacing their bodies with the Gu they raised. I admit, it was something I was curious about testing but....well, a body as beautiful as mine, one must be cautious when altering it. And it wasn't like back in my day poisoners were plucking out their kidneys to replace with toads. There just stories, warnings from elders and seniors to not focus or rely too heavily on poisons or delve too deeply in the creation of Gu Poisons. I got as far as raising Gu insects, personally, Heh-Heh-Heh" "Is there any chance for such a practice to have once existed, master?" Renshu asks, fluttering his eye lashes as he swirls a bowl of water, turning his fingers webbed as he tests its qualities, since it might be needed for Monu to drink a great quantity of water to flush the poisons out of her system. You glare at the effeminate and gaudy carmine mystic, and it takes him a second to realize you can't speak as hyper toxic venom dribbles past your ruby red lips "Clearly it is, true brother of mine" Ruolan hums, as her enthralled blood brother hands her a bottle of something milky to mix into an antivenom salve "if our master brought it up, there are few alchemists as knowledgeable as she is" "It is" Your mother huffed, cutting off and squashing any debate on the subject "All the cautionary tales and stories of demonic cultivation have proven to have sprung from seeds of truth, even if they only bore fruits of falsehoods and lies. There were probably cultivators, poison users like myself, who replaced their original organs with transmuted Gu, but the stories of them becoming hives for malevolent bugs, are gross exaggerations. Just like my darling daughter being a ruthless man eater!" Renshu and Ruolan both looked at you, saying nothing but it was clear they were struck by your mother's bias towards you, since, while didn't make a habit out of it, you did have no issues eating human meat and you did use human blood primarily as a cultivation resource, when you were drawing on the ghostly yin of dead humans. But you just thought it was a cute quirk of Monu's to show such favoritism and overlook the things about you that terrified most "Normal" people. But you'd really hoped she'd know the actual process behind turning a Gu into an organ, like an eye. Since while Qiang wanted and had moved beyond her past as a killer for hire, she was still a damn good assassin and giving her some poison of her own would certainly be worthwhile. Cont

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:vF5ZYTdy Tue 29 Apr 2025 04:48:47 No. 6231626 Report >>6231624 And you imagined, having a flying insect, like a hornet as an eye, would also help her out when you had need of her to slice throats and kill your enemies in their beds! But a centipede or something like that would also work. Maybe a spider...Really you just thought it'd be an eye catching feature for her to have an insect as an eye, and the thought of innovating and creating something new to benefit your own students was just as much of a reason as it was that you thought giving Qiang a Gu eye would be something fun to do. Not to mention, how much creating one would advance your own alchemy and what little you knew about raising Gu from your mother.
The venom bubbled on your lips, as you nodded and Monu relaxed and parted her lips. There was no way to be delicate or dignified about this. You'd have to vomit the venom into her mouth, steadily, so her body could adapt to it before it began liquifiying her bones. If it were any other cultivator, you'd be worried she'd die a painful death. But you'd seen Monu bathe in poisons so virulent they melted her clothes and caused hardy men like Fu or Feiqing to faint when they walked by from the vapors alone. Though, thinking about it now, you wondered if that was actually what happened or if Monu lied on their behalf to save their masculine pride.
You stuck out your tongue to use as a guide and since it was smaller in your human form, you had to straddle your mother in what was sure to be a titillating sight, as you leaned so close your lips nearly touched and your noses did, as you drooled a few drops of Sinner bone centipede, while you looked down at your mother's confident and amused expression, her eyes entirely relaxed as she looked into yours
The change was instantaneous. Veins popped the second the first drop hit her tongue. Her skin paled. She grimaced and thrashed. But her eyes remained focused
"Hold me down, brats!" She shouted at your two carmine mystic descendants "Don't stop, Huanliuxue! No matter what I say or do! Any agony I feel will be made worthless if I'm not fully infused with your Gu!"
But...she's never had to handle a golden core tier poison before, have you mother. You pause for a second, but obey like a good daughter would and lean close to continue the transfer of poison, steeling your heart and burying your conscience and worry as it only got worse for your mother as she soon lost the ability to struggle and thrash as the potent venom entered her body through her mouth and was absorbed into her flesh. She shook, trembled, and looked like to all the world a corpse. Her eyes bulged, her face turned blue and her toadish tongue flailed, purple and covered in slobber as her limbs contorted in painful looking angles and her body rippled and jiggled like a jelly fishes as her bones were attacked to the core of marrow by your venom.
She made noises no human body should make, that not even a sick or diseased animal could produce.

"Should we wait for the grand elder to rouse?" Renshu asked
"Should we make her a carmine mystic? in case her body can't endure the poison?" Ruolan asked curiously

A glimpse of silvery white, insipid moonlight provides the answer to at least one of these riddles. You'd wait until Monu woke up to discuss the finer points of crafting a Gu organ, an eye in this case, a particularly delicate and fussy organ, and you'd probably pester Ao for anything the scholar turned warrior king turned calamity causing ghost might know of the "Shameful" art of Gu making and the forbidding practice of transmitting gu insects into organs, which you really don't see why it was considered demonic cultivation, besides perhaps a bias against poisoners or maybe a fear the five shitty sages had of them. One thing all poison users pursue is a poison strong enough to fell a dragon. And once they achieve that height, what else is there to aim for but a toxin that could bring low a true immortal, a poison purpose made for a deity? Shaking your head and tossing aside your rueful and half paranoid thoughts of why the art and dao of poison was crippled with so much else of cultivation, including your entire existence, you prance off to find a toady to send on a quest to retrieve materials for you while you were busy down here. Now, while the rabbits were all ready to begin cultivating and you had high hopes for the children of the moon to start out a few ranks above the average cultivator, your motherly instincts and personal fears that some shitty god would kidnap them if you sent them on an errand made them not so good of a choice. And sending Qiang would spoil the surprise even if it could be good for her cultivation. Ping, was also out of the question as he'd want to bring Feiqing and Lei and probably Qinxin along and you weren't certain they'd survive on the Moon, even with its new enviroment that your primordial beast essence had lent it But Fu? Fu was good at surviving things and was raised in a isolated village that made charcoal deep in the woods and high in the hills and mountains, well, before you found him and he became a wandering hero and mayor of one of the great cities of Chuan, Heh-Heh. "Fuuuu~" You purr, as you find your first disciple, drinking and carousing with some of his rivals. A shiver runs down his spine and he whips his head around as you stalk up to him, tail flicking and paws leaving ethereal red flames on the ground as you smile innocently and purr. The smart of his drinking companions for the night flee immediately, and his fellow disciples of the palace of natural law wince or pour their drinks solemnly out of respect for the hardships he was about to undertake in your name to appease whatever fancy had crossed your brilliant mind Cont

He greets you energetically and enthusiastically, politely cupping his fist as you close the distance and circle around him, his eyes tracking you, waiting to hear what you would ask of him "I'd been wondering what you were up to, considering you'd miss the exciting final leg of the sorcery tournament"
"My fan girl won, didn't she? and tried to beg for just a kiss on her hand?" You ask, having heard something like that among giggling gossips as you searched for Fu
"Yes" Hong laughs "She was really desperate, It would've been funny, if it was not sad. But she accepted her winnings anyways"
"Tch, a ghostly scripture, wasn't that the prize? The Weiwupo must be over the moon right about now" You say, snickering at your own clever would play
"Strange choice of words, master Huan" Fu says warily
"Well, you'll know if they're accurate in a few moments, I need you to go scrounging for me, Fu" You say and Fu's expression hardens, looking like he had just spent an hour chewing on a lemon rine
"On the moon?" He ventured as Hong stopped laughing and turned in his direction, bandage over his eyes crinkling as he winced
"Wait, she can do that?" Mao Yue gasped, red on the cheeks and so drunk she looked half melted on the table she was sharing with Bo and the First Wancheng in your sect
"Yep" You say as Fu grimaced
"Can I survive up there?" He ask
"Jade rabbits can" You deflect "Just hold your breath and cover yourself in protection spells, your cycling breathing method is similar to mine, you know how to breath one breathe for a long time don't you"
"Are there any dangers I should be aware of?" He asked
"Well, it was really weird and scary when I first wandered around the moon, but, shouldn't be, unless the heavens are hunting moon hares" You answer with a smile "Or a predator from the outer dark beyond the light of the stars gets your scent and crashes down to go hunting"
"What?!" He gasps, losing his composure for a second
"No idea, instincts said that" You admit "But it seems like that is a risk, so, I'll take you up to the moon and you can go searching for Lunar insects and other Cosmic vermin for me to craft into a special Gu"
"And how will you know when I've found..." He begins as you create a ghost light
"Channel Qi into one of these, and I'll come fetch you" You answer with a smile, as you reach up a paw to take Fu on a cosmic journey, right after he finishes quaffing his cup of wine to steel his usually unshakeable nerves

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Mon 05 May 2025 17:06:33 No. 6235949 Report With Fu sent off on his next adventure, and his first above the heavens, you turn your attention to other matters. You could call Aodasheng from wherever he is lurking nearby, guarding you on the off chance something that could actually threaten your life suddenly appears or one of the former deities decides to act rude and ambush you instead of waiting properly for their turn to cross their swords with you. However, he is supposed to be your secret weapon. Not even your closest allies know that the forgotten king is now a servant of the palace of natural laws and summoning him to your side so soon after his little tantrum nearly spoiled the surprise and drew the attention of all the sect heads and grandmasters of the Chuan sect from the bone chilling wave of ghostly yin Qi he'd spewed out while raving and seething about his once respectable rival turning into a wine soaked lump of fat. You know he could restrain and hide his aura, but you aren't going to risk exposing one of your greatest secrets and most powerful weapons to chat with him about Gu insects and other restricted or outright forbidden insights and knowledges, when you need to collect on your winnings and hand over your one lost wager. Since Ao would rant and rave about the practice of poison making, the raising of Gu's and reminisce about everyone he's killed who used Gu against him or the time he fed someone to a mound of ants or talks about something else that gave him such a reputation that it survived him to make his memory a boogeyman who was only spoken about around campfires and tests of courage! Shoushan, doesn't need to be told to hand over what he promised, though you're still tempted to let him build a monastery with you as its idol just for kicks, but he is diligently lecturing your students with the aptitude for exorcisms or simple curiosity towards it about the difference between the daoist and buddhist approaches and understanding of ghosts, a group which includes all the recent aquisitions to your sect's roster form the tournament. You do have to pull Shandian's arm about handing over his bottled lightning though. "My students beat both of yours in every match they met in" You rumble and growl "And they didn't, as you bet your treasure on, win every contest they took part of. Saying that since they didn't get beaten by my disciples solely is nonsense, I was the one who took your wager, so the lightning bottle is mine" He grinds his teeth and grimace, having not expected you to confront him so publically about settling the wager and weakly tries to offer you lesser, more common prizes. Including to teach a few of your students how to cultivate off of lightning strikes, which you outright refuse since you know how many students his sect goes through with that cultivation method. But he relents after some pestering and a few annoyed pats of your paw Cont

You find her, and her gaggle of lesser witches, relaxing by one the edge of your spirit wood grove. She is reading the ghost manual that was the prize of the sorcery contest, and is leaning back against one of YOUR spiritwoods, her shapeless, far too wide brimmed hat covering her eyes as she relaxes, having known you'd have to come to her and waited seemingly just to annoy you and needle your sense of pride.
No wonder she and Monu used to be friends
"How Punctual. Cats, Cultivators, Heretics, and witches all aren't known for being able to keep their appointments and dates, and you are all four! I hear you've ignored my disciples humble request" She snickers, clearly relishing in the victory she claimed over you that let her summon you in your own garden
"I'm not my mother" You answer simply "I don't so freely spread my affections. Though her admiration does amuse me, a kiss is far too grand a prize to be won in this tournament"
"And according to the rumors I've heard, you'd prefer if she had spent some time fermenting under the soil" She answers, before handing over the manual to one of her disciples and sitting up, a long leaf of spirit grass stuck between her lips, eyes twinkling as her wrinkles deepen through her grin "I must admit, I don't believe the gossip. Even the poison fairy's daughter wouldn't keep a harem of ghosts...surely"
"I have a court of them" You answer, pursing your lips, and patting yourself on the bat for not asking Aodasheng to appear, even if it'd be funny to watch him make the Weiwupo squirm, and be ever so satisfying "And an army, but my love life is as bleak and empty as an unfilled grave"
"See, its saying things like that that make the few bold enough to gossip about you talk about peculiar and deranged tastes" She sighs, shaking her head "Come, sit beside me child, I wish to be taught comfortably. You wagered some of your insights against our prized collection of curses, so please, come to my side and whisper me the secrets of an outspoken heretic"
"You don't share your disciples...proclivities, do you, Weiwupo?" You snicker and tease, and she scowls
"That smart mouth is one reason you still must call me Weiwupo, Huanliuxue" She scoffs "And I do prefer men, though my preference of bed companions is of none of your concern"
"Oh but it is! A royal woman such as myself must guard their chastity " You excuse with a shrug "And now I know it isn't going to be threatened,"
"Not every hag is as lewd minded as your mother" She snaps
"No, but most old women are" You cackle "But enough mocking and testing eachother's patience, do you have any preference of the accursed secrets I share with you, or should I pick and choose myself"

the next few minutes are lost by you and the Weiwupo laughing uproariously about the bluntness of the offer that sounds very much like a threat.
"You do so love to offer to send your fellow Daoists to hell, how many sects and individual sages have you sworn you'd set sailing down the yellow springs? And not mean it in the permanent fashion, of course?" The Weiwupo titters, face flush
"I have made the offer to plenty of cultivators this tournament" You admit with a giggle "But I'd take you shopping in one of the scroll repositories and Manual shops down there, or just raid a demon lord's library"

"Don't try and act high and might with me, Grand Witch" You say coldly "We both know that the innocent witch court's hexes were first muttered by a demon. There'd be no shame or controversy, and you could select the cursed knowledge we find there at your leisure"
"True. But we've refined and changed them from their more brutal and wicked forms. So I shall learn how to wield Beast Essence properly, rather than in the fashion cultivators of Chuan used to make use of Beast cores" She answers "The innocent witch court shall remain Innocent, since I have the choice to not introduce fresh demonic influence to our scriptures so long scrubbed clean of the most devilish of practices. "Your mother raises Gu, does she not, Huan? I feared most of the expressions and schools of Gu poisons had been lost, sealed or dubbed the work of demonic cultivators" He begins, strutting around you as he speaks "But yes, I am aware of a method. There used to be a cult devoted to the practice of raising mundane insects and evolving them into higher forms and improving their quality, changing them into heavenly monsters and primordial vermin, and demonic insects as well. And there were techniques in the cult that required symbiosis with the insects. However, I imagine the true form of the art has been lost and tales twist it into replacing organs with still living insects, which while that was also a practice, it was of lesser effectiveness than refining the Gu into cultivation material that was then transformed into an organ"
"Oh, so instead the insects are used in place of organs, the masters of Gu would refine them into divine viscera using their well raised Gu insects as a foundation to form the fleshy artifact?" You guess and Ao nods
"Of course of course, they had such lofty titles and impressive names. But alas, the sect seems to have crumbled and vanished like a clay ox wading into the sea" He says with a sigh "Of course, a truly fearsome gu insect would be fine enough a secret organ on its own, and the refined Gu Organs often had the ability to return to their original form, which was a feature the cult had made to allow them to become physical inheritance...Come to think of it, those idiots probably wiped themselves out fighting over their prized Gu organs once the practice became outlawed and the knowledge of their creation scarce. Like the shrine of blood drinkers who you've robbed of their legacy to replace with your own, most assuredly more glamorous, form of Carmine mysticism, eh, Huan?"
But before you can answer or make a single remark, Ao gets a queer look in his eye
"Actually, I'm fairly certain I recall where one of their temples was located. Their could still be a few of those ancient Gu slumbering" He mutters, eyes incadescent with undying greed "And if I'm wrong, I could check my private collection and find one. Say, you were wanting to make the Gu eye yourself, correct?"
"Yes" You answer "To give to Qiang as a reward for her victory in the tournament, and wanted her to be able to use it to poison"

Ao asks "And of course I shall protect your student, I've chosen to act as your servant in this era and decided to be your friend. I'd sever both my arms and leap headlong into the wheel of transmigration if I failed you as both, Madam Huan. Be assured, no harm shall come to the frog in the unlikely event that the cult left behind the worst of their treasures or their corpses were so sufficed with venom that they have not rotted and have persisted as hungry ghosts and mutant Jiangshi! And do try and get Yuanquan back to me in a timely manner" "Oh, i was planning on seeing if I could make him attain a human form and then have him explorer the most forbidden sorceries in the depths of the primordial lands as a bonding excersize" Ao jokes "But, speaking earnestly, I shall fly back to your lands with him in my talons or jaws if I must, and will flee from battle rather than fight, a great sacrifice considering my lust for combat, to better preserve the youngster's life" "Well, maybe you can take him on a playdate with Yuyi's kids, if you cross by Fu's village" You chuckle, wagging a paw playfully in the air "But be off with you, collect the frog and go exploring" The results of the crafting contests, weren't at all surprising. Feiqing humilated the smiths and craftsmen from all the other sects of Chuan, creating a whip sword inspired by your grace and a centipede's body segments that he had infused with some of his demonic blood and poison to allow it to create a flammable and toxic substance from within its own metal, And he made it look absolutely adorable, with its handle wrapped in red and pink silk and a rose gold paw print between its guard. He offered it to you as a gift and you were still deciding if you wanted it or if you'd hand it down to someone else in your sect, and what to call it since Feiqing also left that honor to you. Cont

A request which your graciously permitted.
The free for all battle, as expected, became a brawl between your own disciples, though a few of them got beaten before the rest of the sects were all forced to flee the battleground. Hong and Lanfen were the first to go, taken out by a surprise team up by Innocent witch court and white jade devil opposing army members. Then Ping, Feiqing and Lei teamed up against Chuandapo and Huili, and Qiang and Fu were forced to ally, but Qinxin treacherously attacked them with the three sworn brothers, before being struck down by Siwang, who fell shortly afterwards as three against one is never a fair fight unless the One is Huanliuxue of course!
Then, the three sworn brother faced off. And Ping and Feiqing decided Lei was the bigger threat and teamed up to beat him down even with his tricky demonic cultivation. And unfortunately for Feiqing, he had more of his meridians and Qi sealed away, so his loss to Ping was just a matter of time.
[ Ping as attained Foundation establishment rank 4 !]
[Feqing has attained foundation establishment rank 5!]
And the luck trials...well, one of the seven slaughter sword sects members one, as the foundation establishment level of those trials were wagers. And She wagered that she wouldn't lose her arm as she performed a very dangerous juggling and sword dance act that made even Fu wince, all with her eyes closed and after guzzling enough wine to kill a yak. She told you were name was Qiēròudāo (切肉刀, Meat Clever) and excitedly accepted the spirit stone prize for the free for all tourney and pouted when you told her a sword maniac couldn't give a speech, just as she did when you told her you'd refuse to teach her the trick you used to make "Old master Snowman" fall to pieces.
And with that last contest finished, the next stage of the tournament could begin, and it'd be the shortest besides the finale of the golden core stage.

As if the next round was the ones you'd be participating in personally! However, the tournament would have to wait a few moments to proceed to its next stage, since you couldn't shake the feeling that your treasured first disciple was in danger on the moon. Sure, there wasn't any air up for him to breath, but he was a ghostly cultivator, your kind didn't need to breath as much as even other daoist sages did. And besides that, Fu had a remarkably durable and hard to kill body. If he could have his head cut and ripped off more than once and still be walking around, he could hold is breath for a few hours surely. No, it was the lunar and cosmic instincts that coursed through your veins, carried by the moondust infused into your veins, that made you nervous. Like the unseen presences that followed beside you on your first trip to the moon, you sense that there are greater dangers in the stars than the odd god gathering stars or meditating in the whorls of solar light. So, you leap up to the moon, swimming up a river of moonlight you turn into rapids with a bit of the blood moonlight contained in moon collapse, and throw yourself into the swirling stars after pouncing from the highest tower of your garden and flying as close to the heavens as you dare to tread. It doesn't take you long at all to track down Fu and find where he is precisely upon the now wild and untamed surface of the moon. You wrinkle your nose and curl your lips in annoyance and disgust when you see signs of the newly grown groves of trees on the surface having been logged and cut down. The hypocritical heavens were taking advantage of the wealth brought about by your beastly breath. Huff, you tramp and march through the paths cut clear through the undergrowth, exhaling blood qi along with the lunar qi and primordial beastial essences within your core, hoping to give this wild place some natural defenses, and to ensure your adopted Jade hare's kin still trapped on the moon would have a bit denser grasses to hide their burrows away in. You find Fu standing beneath a water fall, surrounded by curious moon rabbits, and stranger forms of life that you've never seen before. He lifts his head to look at you, bubbles of blood ballooning out of his ears, nose and mouth, boiling as they rose away from him as he stood, covered in bruises and with some frostbite along his extremities, waist deep in a pool of moon dew. The star light in your fur twinkled as you approached your student, his eyes blood shot and cheeks pale blue and puffed out. He had tossed off his upper robes and bandages and you could see just how mangled his body was from the numerous battles he's fought Cont

That is the closest earthly creature you can compare them to. They're long tubes of prismatically scaled skin, with ethereal, vapor like fins running along their sides, with bat like talons and claws jutting from their sides and allowing them a wider range on controller as they swim. As you creep closer to the dew's edge, you see that they have little, round paws treading in the water, and most interesting of all, their heads are like a lampreys, but with the fangs splayed outward and a ring of eyes around their "lips"
You look up, and notice that a basket of lunar bamboo is sat by the shore, shaking and rattling, as the things inside hiss, sputter or cry.
"I see you've been hard at work, Fu" You congratulate him, and Fu frowns and tilts his head, and you realize he can't hear you. Nor talk in the airless vacuum. Something a ghost like Ao and a cosmic natured beast like yourself didn't have to worry about.
A shadowy hand stretches out from his shadow in the water, and taps Fu on the shoulder
"Its back...." a voice whispers on the airless wind. And you smirk, smug that your instincts had been proven right again as Fu dives under the water and you hear a loud thump. And look up on the ridge towering above the pool Fu was catching...eh whatever those moon lamprey's are, to see what looks like a cross between a bear, a rabbit and a horned serpent like Yujijiao. It casts its eyes down across the pool, the jade rabbits there seeming entirely unconcerned by the giant towering above them, which is curious since moonrabbits are....usually skittish by nature, barring a few exceptions like your kids. Well except the chicken heart Mao Yen.
"Ah, you must be their Mama~!" You shout, as the bear, rabbit with horns finally notices your presence, a fresh would upon their face, an axe strike and what looks an awful lot like a human's bite mark on one of their huge crushing paws. And in the swirling silver blues of their eyes, you recognize and unmistakable shine of intelligence. Of course, all moon rabbits are magical beasts it seems, but this one seems to be more in line with the awakened beasts of the mortal realm.
And you also, as you see some blood that is probably Fu's dripping from their horns and buckteeth, that they recognize that you're a far greater beast than they are and would, in a primitive world view like most magical beasts hold until they're taught better, sees you as a terrifying predator.
You flash a grin as the big moon rabbit bound away in panic, as the other jade rabbits tilt their head in confusion. And...wait did these little brats lead their big brother over here to bully Fu? Shouldn't they recognize you as a kidnapper or....

Fu understands what you intend to do to him and immediately kneels and cups his fist respectfully as you transfer the spiritual energy and life essence to his body through his open wounds, stoking the blood Qi he had just learned how to cultivate and speeding up his body's natural healing to the point that he heals as quickly as if you'd smeared a wound mending salve over his body or forced him to drink a elixir to directly stitch together his wounded flesh and cause it to repair instantly. Then, as he lifts his head, you breath out. A translucent bubble of air emerges from your lips, as you transform the void essence you breath when you're meandering through the stars into oxyegen and plop the bubble around Fu's head so he can refill his lungs and stop torturing them, deprived of oxygen as he is. And before he can drink all of the air down into his lungs, you tell him, in the space where noise and vibrations can travel that you'll return to pick him up shortly but that he must keep working diligently and hard. And that he was to avoid the horned hare that you were convinced was as rare amongst jade rabbits as naturally awakened magical beasts were in nature themselves. He nodded, not needing convincing to avoid the bouncing brute considering that the two of them seemed to have exchanged blows and wounds prior to your check up on them. Then, smiling, and certain that Fu is safe to continue gathering materials for a Gu ritual you plan to turn the results of into a shiny new eye for Qiang, you depart the moon and float down the river of moonlight to begin the core formation stretch of your tournament. That won't be anywhere near as long as the three prior stages, considering how rare it is for a cultivator to build foundations sturdy enough to even attempt to construct a golden core. More than there are those that succeed in the endeavor in their lifetime, certainly much more attempt to form a golden core than any who succeed, especially those who manage to shape a half way decent core that allows them to even dream of continuing their cultivation. Of course, you are an exception to that rule, with your peerless and flawless golden core and the sheer speed of which you were able to reach it. Maybe it had something to do with you already possessing a beast core, or maybe ghost cultivators just naturally shaped golden cores much faster than other Daos were capable of. Who could say for sure. Well, except for your natural genius and prodigious talent playing a massive role in both the quality of your core and how little time it took you to actually shape the core itself. But you were getting side tracked admiring yourself. The games had to go on. But there was a bit of a snag there. Cont

Even low level core formation cultivators with barely passable foundation were leagues and miles above and away from the greatest and mightiest of the foundation establishment realm. Sure you pretty much skipped the stage entirely, but it was common sense that the core formations stage was when the a cultivator began to be able to alter and affect the environment with their spells and techniques and could be expected to wipe out armies on their own. So long as those armies were...you know, normal people. If they were cultivators, well, they'd still slaughter Qi Condensation cultivators and massacre those stuck in the foundation establishment stage, but it'd require more effort and they could be wounded and worn down by numbers which wasn't the case when they face mundane armies. In theory. Cultivators have yet to clash with the warring mortal armies in the current era, but enough stories survived that you were being pressured to relocate their games somewhere away from your temple so that the crowds of ordinary folk and weaker cultivators wouldn't become collateral damage during the matches.
As if they had anything to worry about, when the one with the highest quality and strongest golden core was hosting the tournament and could easily repress even the wildest spells and deadliest techniques of any of the contestants. But it might be exciting to hold the fights and other contests somewhere even more exotic than your one of a kind castle and garden combination shrine!
How do you start the Core formation stage contest, Huanliuxue?

And while it would be fun to toss around a few stuffy elders and old fogies and hags who really need a humbling and to be knocked down a few rungs on the societal ladder, it'd also be rather....Gauche to do so publicly and it might make people gossip that Huanliuxue is no noble lady but a savage brute. As if you couldn't be both! The best flowers had thorns and wouldn't bend, twist and break beneath even the mightiest gale! Wild and strong beauties like yourself who balanced power with fairness and elegance with aggression. Which leaves you with the boring solution. Just erect a massive protection spell surrounding the arenas to set the peoples minds at ease, which is the action of a good ruler, to bring comfort of mind and a sense of contentment to their subjects. And it'd be easy, as easy as flicking your tail or sleeve or trapping a ghost in a jar or ripping out a devil's heart or gathering stars in the bundles of your skirt. So easy as to be dull, but alas, thus is the sacrifice a proper ruler must make. It can't all be fun and games, being a sect head and royal authority both. So, appearing in a very divine manner, chimerically split between your feline and human self and donning all of your artifacts and magical tools, donning your unique wild princess regalia and standing beneath dancing banners of the palace of natural laws, proceeded by your disciples and worshippers, and a few Buddhists who thought it'd be funny to play along with your latest whim and of course your toady Xia Jinse-Shayu and his kin acting as subordinate "Immortals" to the great goddess Huanliuxue, you set the stage to settle the nerves and worries of your most generous and adoring crowd. Chanting mantras as you hear prayers and pleas for protection, you come up with a graveyard poem that will seem like the casting of a great heavenly ritual, to summon forth a most sacred barrier and several of the ghosts from Ao's remaining followers who aren't so frightening looking or powerful to be paraded around in public join in and add their own sorcerous incantations as you dance and twirl, switching fluidly between your two forms and occasionally transmuting portions of yourself into living, moving blood and glinting moonlight, you move through the skies above the arena grounds, surrounded by banners and streamers of gold, scarlet and sunset pink silk rattling with animal bones and jade beads. And, while it seems like divine intervention to those who do not live in the world of cultivation, the indulgent showmanship entertains and delights your fellow daoist cultivators. Cont

Though none of them speak it outload, you know how even supposedly ascetic sages enjoy to simper and gossip. A massive wall of sparkling rainbow starlight and flowing tendrils of silver and crimson moonlight wraps around the arena and forms a massive dome in the curled shape of a sleeping housecat, with a clipped ear. A titanic representation of yourself and of your force of will and spiritual authority, the extravagant protection spell appearing to be woven out of a blood red night sky, with a formation of auxiliary barrier spells shaped like skulls, skeletal hands or twisting vortexes of yin and yang as embodied by life and death, blood and bone ash.
You descend to your throne, and once the peoples attention are off of you, slouch and all but melt into your seat. It wasn't exhausting at all to dance and twirl around, and you barely put a dent in your cultivation base and Qi reserves, but acting like a deity performing a miracle is tiring!
And while the Core formation stage will have a strategy test unlike the foundation establishment stage, it is different from the tactician trials that were in the pre- Qi Condensation and Qi Condensation stages, as it'll be devoted around leading formations and spell arrays and leading as an elder of a sect would guide their juniors into battle or in the day to day running of a cultivation shrine, there will be no scholarly exam since that'd just lead to bickering and arguing between the proud elders and senior cultivators of Chuan and would be mostly pointless unless you decided to make them test on the history of the magical beasts in their own sects.
But the monster slaying trial....well, the gets complicated. Core formation level monsters and threats ae pretty rare. Sure, you know how to gather a whole host of them, and have some on hand already since Ao's army listens to you when he isn't around and you could always uh, kidnap a few demons to make them fight to the death. The problem is that, well, Core formation monsters are rare in the current era and it'd be a bit boring to have the "finest" of chuan's sects fight hungry ghosts and nothing else...

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Mon 26 May 2025 06:48:58 No. 6248491 Report A stray thought meanders by you. 'If my instincts had me fretting about man eating predators living amongst the stars, then those glittering jewels can't be as lonely as I imagined them to be when I only thought there were the goddess shepherding them across the night sky and the jade hares living on the moon' And just like that you've found a solution for the problem of variety and excitement for the monster slaying contests. Why not just wrestle a few cosmic demons and astral monsters back down to earth to use as the challenge for the core formation contestants? Not even you would know what to expect from them, which means no one will have an unfair advantage and as tournament host, the corpses and all the cultivation and alchemical materials within would be yours to claim. And if you don't like the look or smell of them you can just pass them off to the winners as a prize in place of spirit stones or some of your treasures, Heh-Heh-Heh-Heh. Raising up a hand, and calling Siwang to your seat, you whisper your command to him and rise. "Attention, all contestants of the monster slaying challenge of the core formation stage, powerful rogues and illustrious elders all! Master Huanliuxue calls for brief delay and has generously allowed that allotted time to be used for preparations. Train your techniques, ready your artifacts and weapons and contemplate and meditate on the battles to come! For the audience of the mortal realm and the world of cultivation, the living and the dead, man and beast, we ask for your patience as the Grandmaster of the palace of natural laws, her highness and the most regal of all animals, takes a short trip to collect worthy opponents for the elder sages and warriors gathered here today!" He hoots and shouts, flying across the stands and repeating the anouncement as you take your leave from the public eye and travel back up to space, gracing the moon with your feet to check in on Fu You find him and the magical beast like moon rabbit having a staring contest or contest of wills, and the big horned brute bounds away in fright as soon as you meet them. Fu motions and pantomimes towards four moon grass baskets filled to the brim with vermin and poisonous moon critters. You smile and pat him on the head, and scratch "I'll take you back, after I've caught a few monsters to play with" And then you kick off the moon, using the moonlit ascent to soar through the sky upon blood red wings of spiritual energy before a solar wind catches you and lifts you up and away from the lunar surface and sends you hurtling through the stellar chaos of space. You see a singular basket filled with stars, left abandoned and drifting in space. Guess the star shepherdesses have learned to sense your presence, which meant that you'd have to be quick before one of them fetched one of their big brothers or a proper martial deity to chase you away or cut off your poor, pretty head. A sea of asteroids and dancing comets that constantly moves and churns like a sea of space rock and incandescent ices, swirling around and around one massive asteroid with a cave of some kind carved into it with large spires of frozen ores jutting out of it.
A swirling cloud of space dust that glitters and sparkles around a ring of cosmic jade that glints and glows in the subtle glow of the moons light, like a road through a mist wrapped forest that is sure to contain some kind of monster or another
And besides the moon itself, there was the sun, brilliant and blazing and without any solar deities or sun gods in sight, diving through its outreaches and tongues of celestial fire might let you see if anything lives on its fiery surface

But the glittering black cosmic jade containing all the colors of the rainbow and flecks of star lights, the very same you used to make your throne, that cut through the astral plain like an animal trail weaving through the undergrowth of an old growth forest wrapped in mists, also pings with all manners of strange cosmic spiritual energies that make your spiritual senses feel like you've stared too long at the blazing sun or looked for all night into a cloudness night sky. Even gods could do what you can.
So, with ego freshly fed and spirits and pride soaring after coming up with such a brilliant scheme, you step out of your body and transferring a supply of blood Qi in your spiritual self and using Ghost empress melody, you move your still and empty body as if you were still inside of it, and then, sending it towards the asteroid sea, you, appearing as pale red spirit flame, bob towards the cosmic jade road, excited to see what you'll find

Following both the odd stellar ichor flowing through their veins and their alien spiritual energies, you are able to discover that which was considered impossible to exist and the dreams of mad men by the most learned scholars! That there existed life above the heavens besides the rabbits on the moon. And what curious and frightening life you find. But that despite their odd appearances and utterly alien bodies, you sense a sort of kinship for. For within them flows the same cosmic Qi that saturates your body as much as the moon dust flowing through your veins. They little resemble the beasts of earth, or the monsters that spawn from spirits or human design, or even the demons of hell. You watch one specimen you find meandering across the river of cosmic jade, a lanky vaguely humanoid thing with skin white as alabaster or rich fat, with no face upon its head that most closely resembles a memory eating demon from hell and even that is a stretch. With longer suckers on its fingers and a body that flickers between being material and real and being little more than a trick of the light, it wades through the liquid gasses oozing through the black cosmic stream and reaches down to suck...something from the heads of great carp with stars in their eyes and cosmic jade lining their scales. You capture, as your body hops between asteroids in pursuit of a great segmented centipede like thing made out of spheres that most resemble comets that seems to be a filter feeder of some kind. And these are just the first two astral creatures you capture, there are many stranger but weaker ones that you don't feel comfortable giving unto the title of monster, and many more that do deserve to be called as such that you capture after. Core formation tier monsters seem to be relatively common once one figures out the places they live and has the good fortune to glance in their direction as they flit on by during the endless cosmic chaos between the endless courtship of the moon and sun. A long, spider limbed creature with a gaseous center of super cooled poisonous vapor that causes your eyes to begin to liquify and the skin to slough beneath your fur. A boar like serpent with two heads and no rear end that scales cliff sides of the supremely potent spiritual jade that shoots soul damaging lasers from its cyclopean eyes. A blind, ape like perversion of the human form that you think might be a devolved decendant of some poor cultivator who got flung into the night sky by some god in a fit of pique. Cont

Beings of physical light that drain the color and radius of the little stars that the heavens cultivate for reasons still unknown to you, that you capture by luring them in with moonlight before trapping them in jars of moon clay like you do wandering spirits, sealing them with a simple darkness spell.
Crystalline winged butterflies and moths the size of a warship's sail that swarm around your body and attempt to sap from it not only its vitality but the warmth and movement itself
Adorable skull faced wolfy things with sleek, obsidian black carapaces, two mouths nested in one another and acidic blood that seem to be some kind of insect, but are certainly the cutest of all the space monsters you found...except of course the lunar cats.
Black manta ray like sheets that blow on solar winds between the empty spaces of the asteroids that cause matter to vanish when they wrap around it. Except your matter, but you determine by throwing other things at them to bloat them that they feed by teleporting whatever they wrap around to other places. How that provides them nutrition, who knows!
Strange little, seemingly natural occurring golems of strange alloys and glass gold fish bowl heads, that pick through the jade and chitter to themselves and that try to retreat to tunnels before you snatch them up
Funny, protean blobs of black liquid flesh that smells like burnt ozone and rotting flesh that shape shift that are almost as cute as the black, acid blooded skull dogs, but whose best feature is their mimicry. Though you do kill the first to try and ape your shape out of principle, since they got the hue of your eyes wrong, which makes the tentacles and pseudopods of the others flail in a panic, making them easy to capture, and none of the ones you did ever got your eyes wrong again
Even cuter things with body shaped like human corpses and long wings of stretched out leather with faces that range from a horrid interbreeding of mole and crow, to a mingling of buzzard and ant that are a real pain in the ass to catch and make the most delightful soul piercing shrieking nose when frightened.
Swaying anemone like creatures that you first mistook for plants but then realized were filter feeders who fed upon space dust and noise and had a intoxicatingly agonizing venom that worked by transmuting blood into super heated plasma
Human eyes, that also shot beams of killing light from their eyes, with spine tails and bat wings that swarmed around you and just stared, and whom upon catching a few, summoned a greater eye surround by slug like eye stalks and a giant gnashing mouth

What you'll call star foxes who appear as ghostly apparitions of moon and star light that seem drawn to all the havoc your causing on your expedition to capture new and exciting creatures living in space, and who can cause time to still when they transfix a portion of space with their eyes and have the neat habit of compressing or expanding space when they try and run away.
Shuffling mats of rainbow fur that hop around and warble music that have a similar effect to the carmine mystic refinement of lunatic eyes and whom you sing with for a bit as you brush them to try to find anything beneath their fur which you discover is wholly crystalline and having the texture of ground up glass
Crystalline geometric shapes that shriek loud enough to turn bones to dust and, also, shoot deadly beams and cones of light out of their eye, which taking into account the other monsters that due that and how Stellar Qi when used to make a basic Qi attack or dart creates stars that shoot similar beams or track whatever your shooting them at like shooting stars, makes you think that laser beams are a common natural weapon to space monsters as claws and fangs are to normal beasts.
And wild and fierce spirits that you think are the ghosts of weak and dead suns that are formed of odd black flames that devours any fire that are brought to them, and all of whom have a burnt arrow driven through either their skull or where their heart would be
And those twenty examples are just the ones you consider the most interesting or that to your macabre tastes and aesthetics seem cuter than the rest.
And there are four or so that touch the upper limit of the power level of Core formation, as well as several presences you avoid as you can tell from the auras they admit they'd give you a tough fight or else be the death of you if you dared tread in their territory, luckily, the four or so that caught your attention for how strong they are, are well away from the monsters that would be a struggle even for yourself to conquer them. And each would be worthy of the climatic finale of the core formation monster slaying contest of your tournament! So you'll take one of them, at least, as a centerpiece!

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Sat 31 May 2025 14:17:10 No. 6250920 Report While there are plenty of strong beasts, brute strength and overwhelming spiritual energy and Qi reserves don't make something suitable to take the role as the last challenge, final obstacle and awe inspiring centerpiece of the contest. Power means nothing if one does not know how to properly wield it. Which is why you decide that a monster shaped similarly to an overgrown mantis that'd feed upon men or cattle rather than spiders or birds, that moves with the fluid elegance of an expert swordsman and despite being a wild animal, has such refined and careful Qi control they are able to form Cosmic Qi into blades over their spindly arms to cut through space and time itself. And though it isn't sapient, it certainly is intelligent, intelligent and sagacious enough to recognize you aren't chasing it for just a meal and to carefully strategize and plan its next move as you try to corner it. And wise enough to recognize that you are an opponent it cannot beat. Its low cunning, and animalistic shrewdness doesn't allow it to evade capture but it is a close thing as it attempts to flee, not to some hiding hole or distant sun's glimmer, but into the past itself once it sees you can shrug off have the space your torso occupies distorted and partially scattered across a few leagues of space. Which was a most uniquely agonizing wound to bear, seeing your potent carmine mysticism and moon dust infused blood scatter across space like a firework detonating in slow motion. But to a cultivator of your level, despite the pain, was as severe an injury as a paper cut. You wrap it in chains of blood and moonlight condensed and frozen together to become harder than demonic black bile iron or Spider demon silk and drag the now model prisoner of a space time cutting mantis to the moon, where you find Fu and the Rabbit he'd been fighting with glaring eachother down and apparently meditating, surrounded by the family and friends of the jade rabbits you adopted. You tap him on the shoulder, and his eyes widen as he sees just one of the great beasts you've captured. You sign to him that its time to go, and leave the collect the rest of your doomed menagerie of beasties. But along the way of picking up the monsters from where you stored and left them for safe keeping after capturing, a twinge of hesitation afflicts you heart, needling and twisting into guilt as the heart that drove you to so many selfless and even heroic acts as is befitting of a true ruler, begins to dither over the mere thought of turning over such adorable skull faced wolves, warbling blobs of protean flesh and the corpse mole crows to certain slaughter. But you don't have to, there are enough monsters you're less fond of to satisfy the bloodlust of the crowd and fill the monster slaying tournament twice over. And you caught them, so you can decide what to do with them. And what imperial household is complete without a collection of exotic pets? [ Roll 2d100. DC 135. Best of 5 ]

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Sat 31 May 2025 18:08:00 No. 6251029 Report Getting Fu and the Gu materials he collected takes priority, but as you ferry him and the bizarre and alien forms of poisonous and venomous moon life to world beneath the heavens, your mind is ablaze with possibilities and fantasies of a royal menagerie of beasts living wildly in the gardens and surroundings of your allies, savage yet tamed and obedient to your whims. Fu gets a nose bleed and needs to rest after you've ferried him back and apparently took some damage to his lungs and much of his circulatory system during his stellar adventure, which leaves you free to find the monsters most pleasing to your eye and which will be best suited for your ideal kind of domestication where the critters from the stars still get to live as naturally as they please while still accepting commands and perhaps scritches behind the ear. This proves much more difficult than you imagined. And reflecting as you try and get one of the cowering skull faced, acid blood wolves to sit or give you on of their talons like a paw, you realize you've never actually tried to tame or even train another animal. Sure the palace of natural law does keep a few ordinary beasts around for their hides or meat, but you've always considered it beneath you to take part in raising and rearing them. Why would a cat feed fish and check their scales' luster when she could just eat them, and pigs live in muck and mud that would soil your fur. You realize that, you actually have very little idea of how to tame a wild beast without simply forcing it to obey you via an exertion of will or flash of pressure generated by your cultivation aura or via the recognition of your natural superiority and ability to slay them with a flick of your claws. Your fellow cats are easier, the Lunar cats behave and follow you around like all felines awakened or not tend to. But everything else either freezes up in terror at your presence or else trembles and watches your gestures warily, flinching as you bark commands or try to as gently as possible instruct them despite your growing frustration. And you realize, after grabbing a stray puppy and seeing if you could teach them to fetch, that space monsters are probably harder to rear and instruct than mundane animals of the mortal realm. You only have vague, relatively fresh instincts telling you what to expect from the animals or what life above the nine heavens might be like in that desolate and airless expanse. You glare into the eyes of the caged skull wolf you've tried to show how to fetch with what might be the arm of a corpse you dug up from a roadside grave that once belonged to a bandit, but it doesn't seem to recognize the meat and bone as a potential meal. You scrunch your nose and curl your lip and remember how you had to teach the rabbit kids and how they needed to be shown how to do things as simple as breath air to speak, walk around or hop without floating away. They even needed to be shown how to eat food that wasn't moon dew. Cont

And while your motherly instincts are powerful, they don't translate to beast taming at all. And since you could just bully any mindless animal into obedience if you needed to which you rarely if ever did since you value your ability to solve problems on your own as an expression of freedom and independence as well as way of proving your competence and power, and never say, needed a horse to carry you from one city to another or to till a field as you've always had Monu and later your disciples to help you grow spirit grasses and herbs before you obtained a human form of your own.
You just have no experience and what little you learned from teach some rice farmers dog how to fetch isn't working with these space beasts. You're going to have to think of a different approach, find out what kind of "Carrot" to tempt these monsters to go along with your "Stick" of being capable killing them with a languid wave of your sleeve.

Ending the vote and tallying its results now Put it off for now, just feed them some moon dew and keep them away from anyone they could harm and focus on the monster slaying contest and announce the obstacles the contestants are going to be facing, as dramatically as you can:2 Grab Lord Xia's bastard and put him on the task of figuring out what the space monsters want and how they can be trained, if its possible.:1 assign these novel beasts to their closest earthly equivalent pupil to domesticate:2 Tch, approach the patriarch of the dusk marsh wolves and tempt him with a favor to provide some assistance in this:1 ____ The shuffling mops of rainbow fur with a maddening song: 5 The Lunar cats, with the stipulation that anyone who actually kills on is disqualified:1 So, since the beasts are all roughly equivalent to CORE FORMATION cultivators in terms of strength, and the strongest magical beasts besides Huan are merely foundation establishment stage, and Huan isn't so careless as to order her disciples to try and subjugate something a cultivation realm higher than themselves... You'll put off taming them for now, feed them moon dew and keep them away from anyone they could injure/ kill and focus on the monster slaying contests and announcing the obstacles the contestants will face dramatically the first of which will be the mops of rainbow colored fur that can incite madness with their singing update will arrive shortly

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Tue 03 Jun 2025 19:35:01 No. 6252403 Report If any of the magical beasts in your sect had reached the core formation stage, you could've shuffled off the responsibility of taming these cosmic beasts and figuring out how one could domesticate a monster that was born out amongst the stars. However, you've reached a lonely peak as a beast cultivator, as currently the rest of the generation is tailing behind in the foundation establishment stage. And even if they're moon and star born, a beast is a beast, a monster is a monster, and it is second nature for anything that's survived long enough to attain or was simply born with such awesome power to rival a core formation tier cultivator to be capable of measuring the strength of any challenger that comes their way. It'd be recklessly endangering the lives of your precious disciples and the first generation of magical beasts allowed to live and cultivate to force them to try and subdue and tame monsters a whole realm above them. They aren't like you, a prodigy of ten generations with the genius, skill and cunning to be able to bound over the difference in power between an entire realm of cultivation. So you'll just put it off for now, and using a bit of clever magic and Qi manipulation, create a enough barrels full of priceless moon dew to feed the monsters you're planning on turning into your royal pets and leave to begin the monster slaying contest. As expected, both the crowd and contestants have had their patience wearing thin. Every Core formation contestant is present in the arena beneath the massive, sleeping cat shaped barrier of protection spells and barrier formations. And they comprise of most of the cultivators who have attained the level of Core Formation in Chuan, with the few not present from that stage being busy with closed door meditation or going through a dangerous stage of their self refinement, or simply being outcast from their sects for refusing to not play nice after you proved Magical beasts weren't, by nature, evil man eaters. They're incredibly low in number, barely being more numerous than golden core cultivators and far fewer than there are foundation establishment stage cultivators and that's including rogues and outright heretics. Core Formation is a level very few reach, and most of them are middled aged or elderly, with a few who have regained their youth or managed to reach the realm while still "Young". It is telling of how difficult it is for most modern cultivators to reach this most vital stage on the journey to immortality that even with the vastly extended lifespan good cultivation foundations allows is almost ran out by those with the rare talent to actually make a grasp to begin constructing a golden core within themselves. You hop through your protection spell, and smile at a few familiar faces, including your old guest slash prisoner slash first reader of Hare and Hunting Hound's first volume, Tian Mei. Cont

"Revered mother" You greet, rubbing your cheek against her before pausing as you see one of Xia's brats "Son of my servant" He nods, taking the epithet as a compliment, as you down the rows greeting the cultivators you know by name, some of whom weakly recount having encountered you before in the scuffles before the palace of natural laws were welcomed with hesitantly open arms, and a handful of rogues who, not as aware of the current political climate, fall over themselves complimenting your beauty and treating you like a pretty face rather than the most dangerous thing in Chuan...besides Ao.
And the few outright Heretics cunning, cruel or simply talented enough to reach the stage, outright admit to wanting to fight you to death when they finish forming their golden core.
"You sword maniacs would be amusing if I didn't find your blatant bloodlust so gauche" You titter, as you pat the Seven Slaughtering Sword fanatic on his head, his eyes bright and gleaming beneath his ragged white hair "But I am surprised that Chuan was home to a cult of necromancers"
"Lady Huanliuxue's leaping over the dragon gate allowed us to emerge and resume activity" The old crone answers with a crooked tooth grin "When all of Chuan is haunted, Corpse masters flourish! I was foundation establishment for one and a half centuries until your boon reached my parlor!"
"Interesting, do you have any relations with Senshi-Shiti and his master?" You ask and the old crone cackles
"That tradition of the Parade of Lively corpses is rival to our own art, Madam corpse queen" She answers with a nod "And I must say, you'd make for a beautiful cadaver"
"So would you, granny" You compliment, nodding along as finally someone else realizes that you'd be as stunning and captivating in death as you would be in life
"Don't try and sweet talk my daughter, even if she is weak to compliments" Monu snickers, growing fond of the old bat who when asked her name, just shrugs and says "A Corpse in the near future"
After introductions are out of the way, and you're confident you now know every core formation cultivator in Chuan bar a few exceptions, you fly up and address the audience in the bombastic and theatrical style of announcing they've come to adore and except from you.

Only for his shoulder's to slacken and his jaw to drop in disbelief as teetering, galumphing and hopping comes a pack of rainbow colored fur balls about the size of pigs.
Red shark looks around, baffelled, as all his peers in the core formation realm stare on, just as confused as he is. The crowd goes silent, except for one of the daughters of Lord Chuan who recently arrived shrieking in delight so loudly. And she is joined by several other noble ladies who apparently find the clumsy fur matts to be the cutest things to exist beneath the heavens
"Lady Huanliuxue, overlord of my clan and sect. May I ask....what these bumbling things are?" Hong Shayu asks
"Hah! how should I know! I found them while wandering through the stars in search of interesting monsters to tame! I don't know what they're called, if any god has deigned to give them a name" You snicker, resting your chin on the back of your hand and grinning mischievously "Or how long they've existed. One of them begins to whistle and another behind him starts to sing. Red shark's eyes wobble and glaze over and her twist and twirls around, sweating and barring his teeth, yelling and stabbing at things only he can see as he staggers and struggles to stay on his feet.

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Sat 07 Jun 2025 10:55:57 No. 6254225 Report It is a struggle for the Xia heir from start to finish, but amazingly, he manages to adapt and overcome the challenge posed by the unknown rainbow fur balls and the unique danger of their songs. You'd expected him to cover his ears if he figured out that the world he was seeing was one of an illusion woven by his opponents, but what he does instead surprises you. He achieves a sort of a serene minded berserk state similar to Jiangliehuo's personal fighting style and begins acting like a shark in bloodied waters, embracing the lunacy rather than being tossed through its currents from one hallucination to the other, his eyes redden then blacken as he performs as a spear dance you recognize as one of the Xia Clans traditional martial techniques and drowns out the noise with the clanging of his spear's haft and point on the arena ground. He calls upon reserves of strength, pushes past even those limits with roiling bloodthirst and banishes the madness afflicting him by inflicting himself with a controlled form of lunacy. Thriving in chaos the way only a shark can! You're pretty sure he invented a new technique to surmount the obstacle in his way. With his mental faculties returned and escaping the world of illusion he found himself in, Hong-Shayu easily skewers the singing mops with a look of almost feral rage across his handsome features, the most anger you've seen one of the Xia display that wasn't directed at their ancestral rivals. "Ah what an exciting match, a fight against an invisible foe that existed only in Hong-Shayu's mind! A shame we couldn't see what foes those singers conjured for him to face! If any of my fellow grandmasters would accept a wager, they may try to guess the deadly threat posed by each of these monsters taken from the chaos beyond the heavens, and be given a reward as well as a leg up in the competition!' You declare loudly, clapping your hands together And every sect head tries, starting with Su Zhe'xínglǚ, who is next in line to compete, who amplifies his voice with a simple spell as you give him two guesses rather than one as a benefit of his sects alliance with yours and the fondness you have for the old timer. He strokes his white beard and walks around the secondary barrier array you've erected over the ring, observing the spirit of the dead sun trapped within, stroking his beard "I cannot venture a guess as to what this thing could possibly be capable of!" He declares joyfully, snapping his fan shut and tossing away the advantage you gave him to the cheers of the crowd "I who have wandered far and lived so long, have no idea what this is" And this is the first time you see Master Su fight. Despite his age and gentle demeanor, he turns out to be quite the old monster. His personal cultivation technique, is clearly the name sake of his sect. Cont

But Su performs a movement technique, a rare skill in the modern era of cultivation and turns himself briefly into a swirling mist of water before appearing behind the ghost and adjusting his stance
Then he methodically, completely composed and at ease, moves down the list of the elements, switching stances and approaches as the ghost overpowers them with its light and heat consuming black flames. And just as it looks like Old man Zhe'xínglǚ is going to be bested by attrition or sudden death, the master of the five colors spring smiles coyly, wipes the sweat beading on his brow and lifts his burn covered and black flamed licked arms up, and begins to use the moves of all of the cultivation methods and martial arts he teaches his students, switching seamlessly before them and using one move after the other to create gaps in the monsters defense that he then exploits with an entirely different approach or spell.
It takes him several, hard fought minutes to excursive the spirit of a sun slain before its time, but he accomplishes it by combining Water aligned Ice sorcery with a flame aligned smoke technique to create a super cool plume of mist, as a distraction. Then, he transmutes the earth under his feet into copper powder, and sweeps his foot and nearly obliterates the ring with a massive lighting strike he summons by thrusting his hand through the plume of super cooled smoke and into the solar specter.
He snaps his arm out, and heals his skin with one of the basic arts of the spring fairy blossom art, washing his flensed hand beneath a small cloud of rain he conjured before walking out of the ring and leaving the spirit of a extinct sun frozen inside a pillar frozen electricity
"Forgive me, young Huan!" He calls out, as he falls to his knees and kowtows "I had to go all out to ensure my own safety and utilize some experimental techniques I've been developing, inspired by your own brilliance in wielding both ghostly Qi and Bloody Qi! I suppose you can call my intermingling of Qi heretical, in a fashion"
Monu is third, since she pushes herself through the crowd and demands to fight next, fired up by watching her old friend cast away his cane and fight with all of his might. You decide to give her a chance to guess the danger posed by her opponent, a swarm of winged eyes and their grouchy matriarch
"Hmm, hmm, I suppose they may reproduce via infecting the eyes of their prey" She says with a shrug and a girlish titter, before she unwraps one of the silk ribbons covering her body, the one that struggled to cover her chest and then wraps it over her eyes tightly, not at all ashamed to exposed her bosom as she swaggers into the ring.

>>6254226 You watch your mother carefully, and wince as she has one of the eye rays pierce through her shoulder, and stumbles back and is nearly gobbled up by the eye matriarch.
Instead, it breaks a few of its teeth on a frozen puppet of herself, as Monu appears a few paces away, having turned herself into powder snow like Xue Laohue had. Her eyes glare behind the ribbon, and she summons the scythe made of Xuebai's corpse and slices off half of the eye stalks of the mother eye and expels a human arm sized centipede from her mouth as she twirls around the haft of the scythe to avoid the retaliation of the smaller eyes.
It becomes hard to watch what's going on, as she fills the arena with ice copies of herself and great gouts of acidic air and poisonous vapors as she fights.
But when the toxic clouds clear, Monu alone is standing and all of the eyes are on the ground, either squashed, frozen solid or slowly melting into the sans. The matriarch eye has been cut in half, one side frozen and the other covered in boils and lesions parts of its skeleton ooze out as a liquid from the animalistic like slashes that your mother covered it in when she mauled it with the artifact made from your sisters bones
"Huaaaaaanliuxuuuuuue~" She whines, stomping her feet "You should warn your mother about these things! They could've tarnished my beautiful face or made me lose an eye again! That was so scaaaary"
She pouts as she sashays out of the ring, replacing her torn silk coverings with a robe of violet hued snow, combining her ice sorcery and Gu poison fueled spells to preserve some of her dignity. Not that her new clothes are less revealing than her usual dress of streamers and sashes of silk.
And none of the other grandmasters are able to correctly guess the threats their juniors and greatest disciples will be facing. Monu lasts, surprisingly long despite being in the beginning stages of core formation, punching well above her weight with expert and clever use of her puppets and poison. In fact, despite being one of the weaker contestants physically, she manages to outlast most of them and make it to the final round. Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Sat 07 Jun 2025 10:59:26 No. 6254228 Report >>6254226 You watch your mother carefully, and wince as she has one of the eye rays pierce through her shoulder, and stumbles back and is nearly gobbled up by the eye matriarch.
Monu lasts punching well above her weight with expert and clever use of her puppets and poison. In fact, despite being one of the weaker contestants physically, she manages to outlast most of them and make it to the final round. Along with Hong-Shayu and his Rival Shidi Chao, Su Zhe'xínglǚ and Xié'è Mówángzǐ

The reborn demon is grinning giddily, some how managing to meet and hold your gaze despite the distance, while Xia and Shidi try and keep as far from the other as possible while Monu makes a show of being tuckered out and pouting miserably and Su simply sits and meditate and wait to hear the next monster they'll face. All of them, except Xie'e are wounded or beginning to show signs of exhaustion and fatigue. Mowangzi himself looks like he just woke up after a strut through a harem and a dip in a hot spring. He might be just a step away from Golden Core, and as far as you can tell most of that monstrous power of his is coming purely from his prior incarnation.
If he can be leashed and taught to heel and behave, he'll be a worth addition to the palace of natural laws....
And how do you arrange their fights with the Space splitting Mantis, Huanliuxue?
>Personally heal and give them energy supplements, then let them, from weakest to strongest, fight it one at a time. >Have them fight it one at a time but don't heal them or offer them refreshments, they win our lose. >Get them back in peak condition, then tell them they'll all be fighting together, as the last monster is enough to wipe them all out individually >Give the Mantis the entrance it deserves and tempt the runners up who failed that they could still win, if they can land a single blow on the beast. Just to show of how strong the bug is >Write in Turns out being a dirty poison user, a master of all five elements, and being a reborn demon are some nice advantages to have
Xia and Shidi made it to the end cause they just refused to lose while the other continued to progress through the contest.

>>6254229 I would say heal them but divide them into two couples (Xia and Monu, Shidi and old Su) and the reborn demon by himself.
Each group must attack the mantis in turns or be disqualified.
No cheating, and whoever lands the killing blow wins.
I'm amenable to see Monu and Su's swapping place but having the two rivals in the same squad would be too on the nose and might be seen as giving them a handicap.

Have them fight it one at a time but don't heal them or offer them refreshments, they win or lose.:3
Personally heal and give them energy supplements, then let them, from weakest to strongest, fight it one at a time.:1
Heal them and divide them into Duos:2
Give the Mantis the entrance it deserves and tempt the runners up who failed that they could still win, if they can land a single blow on the beast. Just to show of how strong the bug is:2
So you won't heal the Five finalists, including your own mother, and have them fight the Mantis one at a time.
And I'll throw in giving the Mantis a proper entrance

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Wed 11 Jun 2025 11:47:02 No. 6256584 Report Deciding not to even attempt to level the playing field, you watch as the arena is cleared of the last of the rubble and corpses, as the injured losers of elders watch from a special ring side seats, nursing their wounds or circulating their Qi to undo damages they themselves caused with risky techniques as the Five finalists wait for the next challenge. You can tell from the smug and relaxedly confident smirk on your mother's face that Monu expects it to to be the same challenge as the monster Slaying Contest from the foundation establishment stage. A game where the win condition is whoever has the highest number of kills at the end of a free for all battle against the left over monsters. A contest she, as a poisoner, would have a natural advantage in. Weakened and bloodied foes tended to die quicker to poison, after all. Unfortunately for your mother however, that wasn't the plan. "Ready yourselves, bloodstained elders and battled worn hermits" You snicker as you prance and skip down to the ring, returning a sweet smile in kind to your mother to pay back the one she warmly flashes your way "For the final challenge is an apex predator , a monster amongst monster and an extreme threat that gave even the glorious Me trouble to wrangle and subdue! And it is the only TRUE challenge amongst all this fodder' "Fodder?" Grandmaster Su repeats, one eye brow arced as Monu and Mowangzi begin to laugh while Hong-Shayu and Shidi Chao stare straight ahead, eyes wide and sweat beading down their brow "That would sound like an idle boast" You hear Jinse-Shayu's voice ringing from up high "However, The Wild Princess' perception of what is merely challenging and what is outright suicidal is somewhat askew, considering her tenacity and profound cultivation" "I do not wish to see the monster that is dreadful enough to give a goddess trouble catching it!" One of the spectators, a noble judging from their accent and dialect whinges "Tis a shame! Tis a Shame I fell out of the contest in the fourth cycle!" One of the elderly sword maniacs from the seven slaughtering swords cackles "I would have delighted to wet my blade with the blood of such an adversary" "I am grateful none of my juniors lasted to the final bout" Mi Shengdao's disciple who provides his "Voice" when he isn't speaking directly into someone else's head explains in his stead "As am I that I am too old and blind to partake in the bloodshed, though it would be against my nature to do so" Shoushan chuckles softly. You wait for the excitement to quiet down and grin as you see Shi Tangmushi and the rest of your worshippers looking excited as a kitten with a cattail as they wait to see what manner of monster had given their divine idol trouble in capturing it. "Oh calm yourselves, youngsters, Huanliuxue is merely delighting in the attention the crowd is giving her due to that same suspense, I'd be more concerned with figuring out how to beat a creature she considers so magnificent" Master Su scolds
"Oh stop being so stuffy" Mowangzi snickers "Obviously, its a lethal threat. What else do you need to know! Humans...hah! Battle instinct and fighting intuition will be enough to get by on. You two whelps have some level of foresight, do you not"
"A poisoner of my caliber would be more likely to be caught nude in storm than to lack a poison to kill any threat that rises to face them" Monu sneered and boasted, flicking out her toad like tongue as Chao scowled and Red Shark sighed through his nose, his eyes shut
"Well, I think I've let the suspense hang for long enough! Welcome! One and All! Noble and Peasant. Daoist and Buddhist. Beast and Man! The SPACE TIME CUTTER MANTIS! THE ONLY COSMIC BEAST DESERVING TO BE NAMED BY YOURS TRULY" You manically introduce as you, reveal the last challenge and obstacle in their way, as it rises from the sands, chained and furious
Its white, flawless carapace shined with a multitude of colors, like light passing through crystal prism, shone in the light of the setting sun. Its compound eyes swiveling and snapping around, overwhelmed by all the sights and sounds it heard, the colors of the world flashing through its eyes as it raised its nubs of forelimbs. And sheathed them in Stellar Spiritual energy
"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Grandmaster Su roared "HUANLIUXUE! That monster is channeling Qi like an expert and....not any kind of Qi I've ever...No wait"
His eyes locked on you, and the moonlight dappling through your blood red mane of hair
"Ah" He grunted, recognition clear in his eyes as the revelation of what kind of Qi the monster was forming into long, man sized scythe blades was "I suppose I should've realized what power you had claimed, after you'd turned the moon red"
"I...have not seen such incandescent and marvelous spiritual energy in either of my lives, what a delicacy!" Mowangzi howls, eyes bright and gleaming "Starlight itself, hammered and honed into blades! Hah! If only Forge recalled his past incarnation! He'd love this thing!"
"....it isn't poisonous" Monu pouted, thumbing her chin in thought "And you really should've recognized that Qi the moment it began channeling it, my daughter is surrounded by the breath of the moon and stars, after all"
And before you can say another word, the Space time cutter mantis breaks out of the chains of hardened blood, your blood, by separating the links at a molecular level. There is a burst of energy as the beast skitters forward and tries to slice its way through the barrier and displace itself to escape.

A useful spell...if you ever thought you'd fight another wielder of Stellar Spiritual Energy in a series fight
"You will fight it one at a time, and will have no time to heal or rest, as the thing may figure out how to escape or kill itself in exhaustion trying to" You explain as the Five Contestants watch as the Mantis assumes the stance of a master swordsman, skilled in the use of two blades, and Mowangzi was bouncing on his heels, a manic look in his eyes as the other four studied their opponent
"Tch, I don't think is winnable, but damn if I'm forfeiting" Red Shark laughs and Shidi Chao grumbles
"Damn idiot shark, you'll get me killed to. Can't drop out while a Xia" He says, putting emphasis on the word "Xia" to make it sound like he was using it as slang for dogshit "Is still in the running"
"Doesn't have lungs. Blood?" Monu mutters to herself "Unclear. Carapace isn't like any insect I've ever worked with, looks denser. Clearly has a brain, maybe several"
"If it exists in the bleakness of space" Master Su begins "Then surely it must be resistant to the cold, putting you and I at a disadvantage, my old friend. And maybe fire as well, considering its nearness to the sun"
"Not old and crusty any more, you geezer" Your mother titters, covering her mouth "And I'm not sure what organs and viscera it has, so I'll be stuck trying all my poisons to see what works. You at least have three of the five elements to work with"
"Now now, witch, water could still work, just the variation of Ice Qi may prove ineffective, and thinking only of elemental resistances is a sign of your inexperience" Mowangzi says, suddenly acting all buddy buddy with your mom and Uncle Su "Think! Nothing can shrug off Pure Destructive Yin. And deathly or ghostly yin Qi can strike anything dead'
"Hah! That is the realm of my daughter's expertise, I'm not fool enough to tamper with the breath of the dead" Your mother laughs
"Specialized Qi could be more useful. Shidi, Xia, thoughts?" Master Su asks as you tilt your head and pout, confused as to how they're all getting along and working together despite being rivals. Monu, Zhe'xinglu and Hong-Shayu you could understand, but Mowangzi and Chao? That was unexpected
"That I'd prefer to quit" Shidi groaned
"That I'd agree, if a Shidi hadn't said it first, and especially that beligerent Chao" Xia clicks his tongue behind his teeth "But, if its from space, it probably isn't used to fighting in mud"
Shidi Chao looked around, as Monu, Su, Mowangzi and Hong all turned to him. A moment later he was volunteered to be the first to fight the mantis.

Shidi puts up a valiant struggle. But it is a struggle, and even as a Core Formation level cultivator and as fierce and deadly with his Dao as the wolves his sect names themselves after are with fangs and claws, his utter inexperience fighting with an opponent that can so easily reorient and transform the battlefield is his downfall, as the Mantis is also adept with its own blades and has the advantage of knowing how to move through disrupted and cut apart space.
But Shidi Chao does draw....well not blood, the mantis bleeds something like ash and liquid, airless void. The sight of which makes your mother curse loudly, knowing she has no poisons for that. Shidi Chao withdraws, rather that risk a crippling injury, once his saber had been reduced to so many particles of iron dust, and he had been cut by blades that slipped through the bonds every individual cell of his skin and muscle, and had the hide flayed from his torso to his groin through his three layers of armor. Qi, Mud and Metal.
Xia Hong-Shayu, lasts about as long, four minutes, give or take, and he uses every trick up his sleeve and nearly loses it, as the Mantis, while initially caught off guard by the existence of liquid water, quickly adapts and snaps his spear into two between its blades. But Red Shark does draw more blood and damage one of its legs. He has his damaged to or...rather completely seperated from the knee, a perfectly clean slice.
You pull him out of the ring, cowing the Mantis and take him aside to get his leg re-attached. His father apparently fainted at the sight of the gruesome scene, and more so when you found that he'd had his belly split. Monu, Zhe'xinglu and Mowangzi crowd together as you pieced back together Red Shark with your expert medical techniques, and by time you're sure the heir to the xia clan isn't going to suddenly die, Monu has entered the ring
And you can tell she isn't fighting to win. The two first fights against the mantis had only revealed a few weaknesses and gaps in its technique and defenses. Your mother, in an honestly astonishing display of selflessness and heroism, that makes you briefly wonder if she's been replaced by a doppleganger, enters the ring to both gather more intelligence for the remaining two contestants and to hopefully weaken it.

Zhe'Xingly, doubles Monus time and very nearly dies in the effort to bring down the mantis, forcing it to on the defensive as he releases all of his hidden power and elemental mastery, as well as the rage he felt at watching his childhood friend nearly get butchered piece by piece. He combines techniques from a dozen different schools and methods, switching martial arts and weapons that emerge from his storage ring as he fights like a cornered rat. And you mean that as a compliment. He releases so much Qi that he causes localized and unnatural weather to form, banishing the lingering toxic clouds and venomous Miasma Monu had vainly tried to weaken the monster with.
But, he falls victim to his own power, expending all of his Qi and falling completely still before the mantis, that outright removes the bones from his arms and legs before you can intervene and drag him out, and find that it had also sliced away and spread portions of his entrails, bowels, lungs, liver and heart.
Luckily, the old fossil isn't so easily killed. But you need to give him a lot of blood Qi
"Huanliuxue" Mowangzi sighs, shaking his head "May I request you heal the creature?"
You look at the reborn devil like he's insane, as Monu, blinks her freshly mended eyes and Su, still coughing up blood as you repair his organs and have Siwang look for the bones that the mantis teleported out of him.
"Xie'e, just because you remember your reincarnations" You say tiredly as Siwang drops a bloodied femur into your hand and Master Su winces as you use Blood Manipulation and your own veins to reimplant the still living bone into his body "Doesn't mean you should kill yourself for fun"
"Oh, that is a risk, dying, isn't it? But I like my chances. I've observed the swordplay of that brute and watched the delay between its intent to sever space and cut through time and adjusted my own techniques to it. You've fought my...er, well, my old kind before. You should know we demons haven't allowed our art to stagnate like even those two magnificent demi heretics you're tending to" He explains "And, my demonic blood BURNS to face this monster at its full power! Rather than weakened and reduced and worned down"
"Jackass!" Monu yells "We agreed to wear it down, what the hell are you doing wanting to reset the progress of four elders! Asshole!"
"Such arrogance" Master Su groans, paling as you try to figure out which way around his bone goes

For a fleeting moment, you actually consider doing as your mother asked of you. Despite the inherent dirtiness of the act and the part of impudent little shit that she asked you to crush. Sure there were methods to destroy that particular organ without having to touch it, like with blood manipulation or a simple spell, but the Qi you'd expend performing it would still be a part of you and thus the act would still soil some part of you. And it is a close thing, despite how tidy you like to be generally. That's how much Xie'e Mowangzi pissed you off with cock attitude. He basically insulted and mocked your mother and allies by requesting that, trying to hoard as much face as he could get even at the cost of their own. Enriching himself off their efforts and leaving them nothing to show for it. It really ticked you off, especially how casually he made the request and how blithe he was acting after wards, treating the complaints of the other contestants like the buzzing and biting of flies. It really, really pissed you off and he certainly deserves a neutering. But... You gnash and grind your teeth in frustration, feel them transmute to fangs in your human mouth as from sheer annoyance that you actually see the benefits in the reborn demon's selfish demands. Since if he does manage to kill the thing, if its wounded, there'd be gossip that he only won because it was injured even though he had watched four other powerful cultivators fight and falter against the thing. And if he wins, he is going to join your sect as that is the expected reward and the better half of your that likes to act heroic even if she isn't praised for it would prefer if a wild devil like him is leashed and kept a close watch on. And besides that, it would be more exciting to see him fight a healthy Space time Cutting mantis rather than a wounded and exhausted one that is suffering from the wounds that the other contestants inflicted on it. They may not seem crippling, but stacked together, they've weakened the monster from outer space pretty substantially. And it'd be unfair to it to force it to fight an opponent that is practically untouched from the rest of the contest themselves. And those are just the first handful of benefits that come to mind immediately. However, this feeling of pique and your annoyance for Mowangzi acting like he's top cat around here, killing sword maniacs and bothering your disciples and making such a request to the you, makes you opposed to simply granting it his wish. But, you realize there is a way you can have an excuse to make the fight fair and more exciting and sweep up the benefits without making Mowangzi think that he can demand things from you and get away with it. You could just have Qiang perform the neutering instead, if he continues to be an annoying, shitty little brat like this after all. Cont

"Why waste time listening to the opinions of grain eating mice?" He asked softly, with a voice that was as frigid as the harshest of winters "Why not" You answer back, gleefully and grinning and flashing your teeth like fangs "I can do what I want, you can do what you want. We both have the strength to impose our will. But I simply have more of it, don't I" "Unfortunately that is the logic of us devils" He says, forcing a smile to curl on his lips "The strong rule, and there is no arguing that you are amongst the strongest here. It is kind of amusing, even if it does tick me off. But I suppose that's because I understand human nature" "Blood thirsty creatures aren't they" You hum and Monu nods in agreement "And I enjoy washing my fur in blood, and bathing in it when I've got more skin than hair, Heh-Heh-Heh" "Humans are amongst the most vicious of animals, yes" He agrees as the people who aren't Monu look a little uncomfortable as a beast and demon discuss humanity like they were any other breed of wild beast, even though its true. The audience gets thrown into an uproar the moment you make you decision known and tell them that every member in the audience has their vote. And as expected they vote to heal the mantis. You imagine quite a few cultivators, especially from the sects that had their elder beaten by the mantis, voted to have it be healed so that Xie'e Mowangzi would be humiliated or killed by it. And the ones who had their members lost earlier, did it either out of spite or to deny anyone the glory of slaying the damn thing. As for the none cultivators, which made up most of the audience, they were either fueled by the bloodlust you've been stoking every contest or because they presumed you intended to heal it and didn't want to displease you. The largest majority who voted no were the Buddhists in attendance, who refused to vote outright and thus had their votes counting for no. So you heal up the mantis and stand by the sidelines and watch. Xie'e Mowangzi fights like a monkey, you realize, watching him up close. His style of swordsmanship is very acrobatic and goofy. Maybe he was a monkey devil in his past life. But his bladework is incredible, as elegant as it is brutish. He uses black underworld flames in nearly every technique, seemingly in mockery of the Ling clan techniques or simply because Underworld and Demonic Sorceries mix as well with the innate Cosmic abilities of the mantis as well as Oil and water do. Since, once the mantis realizes he knows exactly how long it takes its cuts in the fabric of space and time to take effect, it tries to beat him by sapping all of the air out of the area by cutting a hole that sucks out the oxygen.

That isn't to say the fight is onesided. The mantis cuts Mowangzi as much as he cuts it, but the demon fights with a wild disregard to his own well being and with a lunatic glint in his joyful eyes as he fights. He has perfectly symmetrical blocks cut from his torso and the skin flayed and pulled off from the muscles of his arm and his leg, and then those muscles peeled back fiber by fiber. He is cut from throat to groin and as his face chopped up, but like every demon you've fought, getting greviously wounded only serves to excite him.
And once his blood starts burning, his demonic inheritance from his past life kicks in. Horns sprout from his brow, his tongue extends and becomes whip like, his teeth turn to fangs and tusks and his eyes fill with malevolence as the mark upon his brow shines brightly as demonic miasma and spiritual energy oozes out of him like rotting fat from a cadaver . And then he starts using it to perform demonic techniques and cast devilish spells, moving like a blur of pure killing intent. The Space time cutter mantis, does not step back, and fights serenely on, even as the now demonic Mowangzi severs one of its arms and turns one of its legs to stone.
The fight doesn't end there, and the devil reborn and the Mantis from beyond the heavens, continue their ferocious and deadly dance. It lasts for hours, with both the wild space monster and the excitable and overly energetic former demon giving everything they have and fighting so fast that you give up trying to give the lower level cultivators and normal people in the stands a play by play and just tell them "They're still fighting" and hope the other high level cultivators who can keep up with the action can tell the crowd what happened if anyone gets curious. But that hope dies when the space inside the ring is distorted, and the barrier is covered in so much blood, dust and miasmic, putrid demonic Qi that no one can sees what's going on.
You sense that the fight ends and drop the barrier, and when the smoke clears, its Mowangzi that's left standing, one arm hanging by a thread of muscle to his shoulder, another skeletonized with flaps of muscles and skin hanging from it, half his face sectioned off and flayed in a grid pattern, bleeding square shaped gaps in his chest and along his leg that wasn't also skinned to the bone and great slashes cut across his body, some bleeding and others simply being where slices of his body had been teleported away. And the blade he'd been using is impaled through the mantis' maw which is still twitching. His own mouth is clamped on its throat, and his eyes are starry and swirly.
You click you tongue and throw up your hand and announce the winner is Xie'e Mowangzi, who is too hopped up on the space monster flesh and Cosmic Qi he ingested to gloat and showboat.

Our-Grandfather !!6YlJK70pl9t ID:e8DboLtx Wed 18 Jun 2025 20:20:10 No. 6260715 Report You have sometime to mull over your decision concerning the unrepentant demon who managed to maintain the unpleasant character and personality so often displayed by the dwellers of the yellow springs; and more importantly the fact that since he is a sectless, rogue and unabashedly heretical and demonic cultivation practitioner, he will without a doubt ask for his winning to be in the form of joining the palace of natural laws. Which, besides his bad behavior and devilish instincts, is a problem. Not just because he'll annoy Feiqing and yourself, and be tempted to sample your karma rich flesh, but because if he doesn't shape up and act properly as is befitting one of your underlings, all the good reputation and renown you've built up for the palace of natural laws would be wasted. And so would all the good deeds of your disciples and beneficent self. That you will not stand for. Also, as you meditated on the solution to letting a demon into your temple, an actual, real demon, something about Xie'e Mowangzi began to really piss you off. He isn't a demon. Sure he's somehow preserved and held onto the powers of his prior incarnation, but it wasn't like he was reborn as a human right after his devil self died. He's been through who knows how many lifetimes, yet he remains attached to one that happened so long ago it might as well be ancient history and probably actually is! It is irritating! Not just that how he managed to retain and be reborn with enough demonic Qi to practice his sorcery and martial arts, or that he's kept his memories of his past life crystal clear, but that he is trying to be something that he's not! Clinging tightly to the past. Which is offensive to one such as yourself, who is aiming to trample over and bury every pointless and offensive tradition in her way. But, you're clever enough to find a solution for both the issue of his reckless and psychotic behavior, to refine him into a proper subordinate of yours, but also to hopefully get him to stop clinging to past glories, which is the root cause of him being such a bastard. Something that only a select few of your disciples are allowed to do, because they know to keep it in moderation or you find their behavior charming or amusing. Yes. Though the Palace of Natural laws has a reputation for being a den of Monsters, strength and talent alone aren't enough to be worthy of joining your illustrious temple. You follow the tenants of the Natural laws. The palace itself has earned the hearts of the people by the charity and relief work you have your disciples and underlings perform regularly. Something that will be akin to drinking poison for a demon! If Mowangzi can tolerate following that specific condition, and fulfill his duties as a sectmember, then you'll have no complaints about him joining. Which is why you're leaning over his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. His eyes flutter open after a few more minutes of prolonged and intense staring. Cont

I had no doubt that I would, when I re-awoke in this frail body, I knew that no sect would be more deserving of my presence and aged wisdom than that headed by a reformed man-eater, even if I wonder if you aren't just hiding a lust for meet despite smelling like a flawless saint and"
"Shut the fuck up, Stop yammering!" You snap "Seriously, how do you talk so quickly! The only other person I know who talks as much as you has the benefit of not needing to breathe! Are you just in love with your voice? At least raving ghosts have something to say, you just vomit out a bunch of words and never stop talking!"
He blinks
"Sorry, needed to get that off my chest or my blood was going to flow in reverse" You say sweetly, bowing your head and resting your furred chin on the back of your paw "And, unfortunately, it isn't that easy for you. I have high standards for my students, and am well aware of how unsteady the palace of natural laws' current position is. And you, who have already caused me headaches with how willing and ever ready you are to draw your blade and gut some idiot. And I do not need the gift of prophecy to know that you'll cause me more problems"
"It is befitting for one who defies the heavens and the common sense of society to be somewhat hypocritical" He praises with a beaming smile "And so what challenge would you have me face to prove that I can behave and act as your tamed devil or talisman controlled corpse?"
"I'm a cat and don't get smart with me, I already have one mute student, I can handle having two" You snap and warn him "and its simple. You have to prove you can play nice with the more righteous and noble hearted of our sect"
"Like yourself, which is truly fascinating considering how open you display your claws and fangs with malice and fuel yourself with resentment and, you know, eat people. Or used to. I really have to wonder why the weaklings of this era overlooked that particular flaw of your character, besides of course self preservation" He rambles on and you rumble a growl of annoyance, and he shuts up
"As I said, your last test is to do good, in my and the palace of natural laws name. Show me you aren't some rampaging beast or rabid dog, that you are capable of righteousness. Even if I don't demand my disciples to be benevolent and heroic, I have a hobby of doing good deeds and see no reason not to help where I can, and as my student, my whim is your mandate" You purr and he chuckles

I feel like it would be weird to have the teams shuffle. And bringing Ao's dead soldiers back would also be a little strange. A ghost king whose subjects aren't ghosts? Half their techniques would probably stop working too if they were made of flesh and blood again. Also the Yin they emit might throw wrenches into the living contestant's abilities which wouldn't be fair.

They're technically already part of our sect but being reborn is quite the boon to us also...
So let it be a mark of distinction to be earned in service beyond death.
We might be strangled by our mother, sister and jujiao (this is the name of the snake ghost right?), for keeping this technique for ourselves for so long though.
