>>11627342I was just thinking the exact same thing earlier today. Digimon vpets could use an all around upgrade instead of just rehashing old devices like we do now. Detailed sprites, more stats than just a general power stat, ect. Basically a new generation of vpets that bring things closer to a digimon world game, but still a simpler and compact experience.
One idea I had was that the digimon would be able to know a couple moves it could learn for battle, and you get different moves based on your evolution path. So if you want to raise your MetalGreymon to have a water move and a dark move then you’d go from Betamon to Devimon to MetalGreymon and carry over those moves. Then if you get a traited egg the reward could be that you carry over a move from the digimon who died to the new baby, or you could send it to another device and hatch a digimon from that roster with a move from the other roster. For battles you could either have a simple turn based system, or you could have them play out automatically like they do now with different moves triggering randomly.
