I think I am one of a handful of people who actually know why this toyline failed in short

The toy line was pure insanity somehow the managers did think that kids will love mutants who look like crap thrown together!
The only colors are shit green, shit gold/brown and 4 of the mutants look almost identical meaning like generic crap thrown together.
Not only this the mutants are fully unique (have their own molds)!!!!!!1111one one one

If you did not know the original toy line did reuse like 4 molds they pressed differently colored plastic out.
This is why the le skeleton scare glow literally has abbs and flesh on him! They only painted the skeleton in. This was super cheep to produce.

However the 90s toyline decided to have these mutants. And wasted unique molds on EVERY body part they have.

This character? Looks totally different in the show and is not even really named. Also all the mutants except 4 are background characters and one of them is not even drawn in model or his colors?

And the mutant woman... who never got a toy version.

Brilliant! All the heroes except he-man look identical with crap on them.

The show is pure insanity if it comes to trying to shill toys however skeletor in the cartoon is one of the greatest evil masterminds in all of fiction.

PS: Also the toyline is full of shit BDSM gear, no I do not understand that one either.
