Someone realized it worked on all transformers toys and not just TFA.
Then someone realized it worked on all Hasbro toys. Not just transformers.
Wham bam someone shopped up a new coupon design with the barcode on it and we were in business.
Barcodes don't hold expiration dates in them so whenever the ticket got old we'd just edit in a new one.
Eventually we all grew morals
Or maybe we started worrying that Hasbro would send out warnings and they'd blacklist the code. (Though to my knowledge that never happened).
And the coupon fell out of favor.
The relevance of self checkout is just that you don't have to deal with people.
Less people=less stress
