Are female figures in retro lines hard to sale? Seems like they have done ok in the current retro lines. Scarlet is the most expensive figure for retro gijoe figs and the baroness is the same for the gijoe classified figs. People are paying double street value for the new elita 1 and arcee bots. Chromia sold like shit but she was like the 4th fembot to use that mold and she had the gimmick removed.
Also, ashoka and female twiliks seem to sell well in starwars. And marvel legends. Harley Quinn seems to move a lot of product too.
Really, I think it's a myth based on girl characters that didnt sell well because the toy was bad, or the advertising was bad, the character was bad, or the cartoon sucked.
Make an attractive girl toy that is fun and people will buy it.
It's not even about adult collectors. April o'Neil was able to sell multiple variants. The only one that shelf warmed was the news van and it was an expensive recolor. April sold well. Demona sold well. Various female marvel figs sold well.
