>>6304946>pieces are incredibly overspecialized and it really feels like you can't use them for anything but what's shown on the box.Are you dumb?
The have generic blocks just like LEGO, but you're right that the veneer pieces are "overspecialized" to actually look like wood, marble, stone, brick, steel, grates, etc. But these pieces allow you to create any sort of brick/stone/mason/steel building you want with concrete/steel/wood/marble floors.
McFarlane's legos are basically Build Your Own Dioramas in practically any scale you want. These Rick and Morty sets are basically the same pieces from the Walking Dead sets. Same with Five Nights at Freddies.
Sets like this, the only original pieces are the signs and maybe the sandbags. Everything else is from the Prison Set/Catwalk/Tower/Motorcycle. Almost everything are 2x2 and 2x4 pieces, even the floor. There's over 100 pieces to make things like this, which is why they can be scaled up or down to make whatever you want.
The fact that you think these pieces only allow you to make what is shown is proof of how great McFarlane's blocks are.
You can't do stuff like this with LEGOs or MegaBloks and not look like it was made out of legos. Even MegaBloks stuff can't compare because of how poorly painted they are.
