The figures are new sculpts made to look like the vintage figures, and they use better plastics and paints today than they did in the 80's. If you put one these figures up next to a vintage figure you'd notice the subtle differences. Same goes for the Ecto-1 from the reviews I've seen; the proportions are even subtly different(because it's an original sculpt based on the vintage one). I already have one of the figures, and there's even slight fixes such as the clips on the proton pack being thicker so they don't break as easy, and the packs plugging into the back with a different design.
