The license for Lego Star Wars is due to expire in 2022. It is the opinion of this board, and likely an accurate one, that Star Wars is not the merchandising monster that it once was. Without Star Wars, Lego could make a space theme of their own, and take a larger portion of the profits.
As I understand it though, Star Wars is still one of the most popular themes, so starting form scratch might be seen as hurting the brand.
What does /toy/ think. Will Lego continue the license after 2022, or will they let it drop in favor of a Space theme of their own creation?
