Both lines basically stole MGA's big head, big cat eye, and big Angelina Jolie lips aesthetic. It's probably something nostalgic MH dolls lovers don't want to admit, but it's true. Mattel created MH as a direct response to the 2010 re-launce of Bratz, and once Bratz died in 2015, Mattel immediately reduced the quality of MH, and then just killed the pricey doll line a year later as it no longer had any direct competition from MGA.
