Disney's Pocahontas has very little to do with the actual historical figure. She also didn't have a romantic relationship with 40 year old John Smith. That's just one of the many reasons I view Disney's Pocahontas as its own separate entity. So if Disney has taken the liberty of turning a child into a 24 year old adult, and a 40 year old man into a young hunk in his early 20s so they can hook up on screen I'd say that lighting her skin color would be the least offensive thing they could have done. Of course try explaining that to a modern day college sjw type who's whole identity boils down to being racially politically correct.
