When Yamaguchi was first developing their "revol-tech" style they'd use the same peg joints for each point of articulation, which allowed for insane posability, but because the figures were only held together with pegs they lacked integrity. Finding replacement pieces was incredibly easy though, which isn't the case with their modern line of figures, so there a pro and con to both styles of design. I remember their Peace Walker Snake figure being particularly finicky while posing, but after 10 years I still have him in near mint condition which is a testament to how high quality their shit is.
I totally agree in regards to the sculpt too. You'll never get a figure to look 100% screen accurate at a 1/12th scale, so Kiayodo said fuck it and let their sculptors flex their creativity which gives their figures much more personality than SH Figusharts.
I never heard of GDC/MF either. I haven't been in the collecting game for a while; what's a good way of exposing myself to new figure brands? This is the only action figure forum I know of, and I still shop on BigBadToyStore like a boomer. I don't like too much Jap stuff either unless it's a licensed product.
