The pixelation you're seeing is from a low res printed sticker, in the style that DCC and Hasbro does: highlights, shading, etc (as opposed to Bandai's method of just the low res sticker as the entirety of the face).
Shit picture, but you can see the beard has the low res sticker on the fringe. The eyes also have printed detail, but it's a shit picture.
