>>6515904Painting on paper is weird as it absorbs the water really quick but you get an idea. Both sets are really similar desu. Kinda curious how the US Vietnam set uses WWII german M-44 colors but a color is a color so whatever. I think the waffen set has more value for having more "different colors" (duh) and if you add the 3112 desert uniform you could paint skin with it (3061-3062-3112). I grabbed them on a sale and knowing that the colors where pretty similar (kinda the point I wanted to test buying them) but it's true that also the different tones and shades is what gives precision and quality to paint works so have that in mind too.
More importantly that rambling about shades is the application, never used ak acrylics so I didn't know what to expect. The bottles don't come with a mixing ball. They are quite thick, similar to vallejo but also new paints tend to perform worse than a half empty one (bro-science research but that's what I experienced so far). All paints were thinned with one dip in water of a 0 brush on one drop of paint. The ammo mig resedagrün behaved the best and has a really good finish but it’s satin, Vallejo and ak are really matt colors.
Color comparison (waffen set vs Us Vietnam set) on how bamboozled you could get:
3066 vs 3143 = same color
3063 vs 3024 = same color
3065 vs 3025 = same color
3062 vs 3075 = different enough to be considered not equivalent but a bit of mixing you could get each other
Set specific:
Waffen: 3061 “waffen spring/summer base”
US Vietnam: 3023 M-44 dark spots and dots WICH IS THE SAME COLOR (98% ON THE PAPER) AS THE 3064 WAFFEN GREEN BLACK
Shared in both sets: 3064 “waffen green black”
Note that when I say “same color” it’s not exactly the same color but one that with washes and dirt on top would look the same.
If I was on a budget and wanted one of these get the waffen one or the individual colors better
