Asshats don't care about being part of the conversation, or about helping others or producing anything of value. All they care about is attention, and by their very nature of being asshats, the only attention they're capable of garnering is negative attention. So they do their best to shit things up and pick on people and start fights, just so they have someone paying attention to them.
Your best bet is to not let them win and just outright ignore em. Report em when they troll, hide their posts when those reports get ignored, but do NOT respond to em. Cause that only encourages em.
