>>10623343Ideally I'd buy some deck masks so I don't have to manually mask all that crap. Then you paint most superstructure levels and such before assembly.
Now in this case there were no deck masks to be had and I still couldn't be arsed to mask around all the tiny bits. So instead I sprayed the deck, then I sprayed the sides of things being careful to keep the airbrush slightly below the "horizon" so no paint ended up on the deck, and finally I went in with the hairy stick the slap grey onto everythign I didn't get with the airbrush this way.
So, yeah, with no deck masks there's basically just no quick and easy way to do it, you...
>>10623368>either spend 3 years cutting and applying masks (think of a stupid amount of tiny squares of tape), either spend 3 years painting the details by hand very carefully.Though in this case I went a bit faster than that on the hand painting, let's just hope wash and filters will hide the resulting oopsies.
Pic: Aurora, a much smaller cruiser that was a lot quicker and easier to do the hand painting on. Not using a deck colour (the green for Belfast) that simply cannot be brush painted also helped.
