He's a bit finicky to mess around with due to all the pointy bits sticking out everywhere, try to move one part and you're liable to bump into two more, but that's just the nature of the design. The sculpt and paint apps look great, the chrome V-fin is a very nice touch and the figure is extremely well articulated.
I've never transformed mine, but it involves essentially disassembling the whole figure and then reassembling it; many folks have reported that it's kind of a pain to do. As someone who's never seen Cross Ange though, I'm quite happy with this RD in humanoid form and I think if you're a fan of the show/design it'd be worth picking up.
