>>11668841You sure about that? Once off-colored bootlegs and color variants entered the picture, the realization was immediate. Again, take Masters of the Universe. Never collected them in the 80s, for I found them gay. Now? With Origins allowing parts-swapping and a bowl of microwaved water easily taking that a step further, I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on them, because they're fun. When Transformers could do this, it was a similar situation. The idea that there's not a market for parts-swapping to make more customized characters of things is bonkers. Can you or I prove it? Not easily, either of us. Why? Because only LEGO and Masters of the Universe really let you go hog wild with creativity like that, and that's assuming kids even KNOW that Masters figures can do these things. The market's there, it's just a feature that's not been properly promoted.
>>11666326 I was parts-swapping Seekers, man. (Case in point, was grabbing junker parts just today to brainstorm a more all-purple seeker I want to do). In school, other kids would bring me their Transformers at the lunch table, so I could "fix" their neutered missile pods with a screwdriver and a pack of Bic pens.
I didn't mention anything about "memorizing puzzles", that was someone else.
