You'll put in three times as much work as the initial build and get a greater appreciation of the kit. You can also toss in old HG kits to a scrap bin and use them for conversions. Try playing with SD kits, Petit'gguys and Haros and see what unholy abominations you can make with your parts bin for a laugh.
