>>8779888>>8780500That’s a good question, and I’m not sure about the answer. While the makeup did hide most of his face, Cheney’s Wolfman was still very recognizably him, especially compared to other Wolfmen of the time.
I’ve also never heard about companies complaining about getting likeness rights from his estate, like you’ll hear from Lugosi’s. So I have no idea if his estate is involved in Wolfman rights the way Lugosi’s and Karloff’s are. As a spectator, it’s a bit of a grey area.
As an aside, I’d love an ultimate Wolfman with alternate Larry Talbot bits. Larry is my favorite character from all the Universal Monsters, and Cheney did a fantastic job playing a truly cursed man. So I’m probably one of the few who’d buy just a Larry figure without Wolfman parts.
