>>6804473The new ones are more in line with the modern MSG part aesthetic, which trends towards blocky shapes and are made of lots of small parts which you can easily configure into different forms. If that makes them seem more Lego-like, it's because they kind of are. It wouldn't surprise me if MSG kits rake in more of Koto's income than FAGs do, because buying one FAG can get you to buy a dozen weapon kits to combine into the exact loadout you want for her.
The original units are all singular pieces or just two pieces of plastic that snap together, shaped more to mimic real weapons and not featuring any particular compatibility with each other or anything else. The closest any of them come is that Jinrai and Jinrai Indigo have parts specifically made to connect to MW11 and give them some 3mm ports to hook onto. They also have almost no part separation, so it's much easier for babby-tier modelers to paint the new ones.
