I caved for the 29.99 Primal at Ross. It was the articulated fingers that did it for me. I don't own any other toy with every finger being individually articulated, unless you count the KO PE CW hands.
As it turns out, he's ridiculously heavy despite not having any diecast, and his joints are scary tight which I suppose is necessary to support his weight.
It's funny that despite being a gimmick toy, he has way more articulation than any modern transformer. Not at all like today's gimmick toys where some flapping wings means the designers no longer have the budget to put in bending elbows and knees.
He can pull off the Iron Man pose better than anything else I own. But this also happens to be the only pose I feel comfortable leaving him displayed in. He's just too heavy and I don't trust his joints enough to leave him with only two points of contact with the ground. This is not a concern I've had for even heavier figures like the Weijiang Prime.
Still, I'm glad I got him for 29.99 - which is about how much I think he's really worth - instead of Hasbro's original asking price of 150. What the fuck were they thinking?
