Scalpers have always been an issue, but knowing that the japanese are getting fucked over isn't good because good chance we westerners are getting fucked over just as hard.
I remember (one of the few times I encountered an irl scalper) during the days during star wars rouge one, think it was a star wars day of some sort because all I wanted was that black robot black series figure, so I head into toys R us (before it closed), as follows
>dude dressed in mostly black
>had a cart
>he was loading black series/new releases/marvel legends
>if he grabbed a box with a slight knock he would literally toss it away like a fucking pig
>all while checking his phone (with ebay page on screen)
>thought I should intervene but how to do it
>the fact I came in half asleep and look like a mess because I don't really worry about personal upkeep lead me to acting like a dumbass casual
>I literally start punching my hand in between the pegs
>start squeezing boxes
>making comments "eww this looks like shit how do people stomach this crap"
>keep shuffling to push the scalper across
>he moves
>I grab what I want (k2-so was his name now that I looked it up)
>now that he's moved I decide to see where he went
>he's tossing more figures in random spots
>he's shuffling back towards the pegs
>I move back there like a bad smell
>"OH HAY I DIDN'T SEE YOU HERE LAST TIME" as I grab whoever the lead girl was from the movie (cbf's looking her up)
>he dives towards the checkouts
>I got what I want and annoyed the shit outta him
All I can say really, you have choices, you can let the scalpers do as they please, you can be direct even though there is little you, a fellow consumer can do, you can be indirect and do an act or whatever works, or just buy your figures online especially if you want them mint
I literally have no issues with card bending, if its not someone being mean it'll be a kid, and in my work I've seen transformers straight from the cartons from hasbro already bent, so there is that
