I like to imagine some horde slime or other wound up on Eternia, mutating a town which the masters have to quarantine. Then, the mutants could be sympathetic villains who have to fight or slowly die in what was their home now a sludge pit slowly sinking into the ground.
The galactic guardians though, I like keeping Hydron and Flipshot as the MOTU equivalent of Scourge and Cyclonus.
