>>10876174The problem is that Joytoy is constantly changing the style and scale for the line. They really didn't know what they were doing.
The normal humans for Joytoy started off with realistic proportions and now they're 50% thicker.
The Space Marines started off in 1/20 scale and slowly seem to be getting to 1/18.
Certain people want to pretend the proportions were always like the models, but they're not even close to that. Not even the newer Imperial Guard dont have the midget proportions the minis have and the Space Marines never did.
And yes, more realistic proportions would make sense, since that's how a lot of the art, games, books, and movies/shorts portray them.
The only reason the minis are stylized the way they are is because limitations of the sculptors back in the day and also the stylization makes their roles in the game easily apparent.
Fans have been working at "true scale" for decades though, so there is a market for that.
This market is (part of) why Games Workshop created the Primaris Marines, to make the Space Marines more special and true to size, especially since a lot of mini updates have slowly been making the normal humans bigger too.
BTW, GWS had already been releasing scaled up Astarte marines (the original Space Marines), prolly to test whether fans were up for larger Space Marine minis.
