You can use Rocket Raccoon and Nova in The Avengers playset, but you need to get Champion Coins hidden in the world for it to even work. In 3.0 it's kind of more lenient since you can bring over a lot more Star Wars characters into the Star Wars playsets, but don't expect Marvel in Disney for example outside of the Toy Box.
