Maybe it's not because of the materials are weak but because they put something designed to stand vertically in a horizontal position and the supports aren't designed to hold the glass panels horizontally? If I buy a couch and prop it at a 90 degree angle it's not the couch's fault that the cushions are falling off all the time.
I don't even like Detolfs all that much (I'm more of a Billy/Kallax person myself) but saying a shelf is poorly designed when your example is showing it in a manner that it wasn't designed to be used in is a really shitty reach SubjectAnon.
