combiners are fine if you do what 90% of anime combiners do and just throw parts around and make the vehicles "barely altered combiner chestplate/limb/extremity" but transformers trying to have fairly-realistic alt modes and (mostly) avoid large chunks coming off between modes means they suffer in pretty much every department in some way
