Notice that Carnage's mouth throws no shadows. Everyone else's has shading, even if just around lips, showing it's an actual 3d mouth. Carnage's symbiotic costume is basically just like that guy's bitching about, a lyrca spandex.
It's the same shit with all those dark wavy lines around Carnage. Those aren't actually 3d muslce fibers, which that other anon compares it to tree bark. Bagley meant for it to look like it's dark shapes moving around under water, to show Carnage's chaotic mental state of mind. The costume is constantly moving around, but his costume is smooth, hence his outline is smooth as well.
