>>11595810Oh that's cool. Kinda makes me want one, now. But I have a soft spot for racing sedans, anyway.
I've posted this little Honda before, but it has a cool story, too—it's based on the first American Honda race car, which competed in the 1970 Baja 1000. Similar to the Jaguar V12, it has a bit of a tragic story: it was engineered by a race shop in Michigan and shipped to California with minimal off-road testing. On paper, all of the improvements should have made it a solid competitor, but they had raised the ride height of the vehicle by 4 inches without changing the CV joints on the rear axles. When the car went airborne, the suspension would droop too far and the joints would disconnect, which basically meant no power to the drive wheels upon landing. The drivers would crawl under the car to reconnect them every time they got too much air, but eventually they called it quits to avoid getting stranded in the middle of the desert.
