In the Star Trek Deep Space 9 episode, "Ferengi Love Songs," Quark goes back home to visit his mother. He's surprised when it's revealed that his mother saved his old "Marauder Mo" action figures. However, she chastises him that their value would have been much higher if Quark had left the figures in their original packaging.
As for the background info for these, the Marauder Mo figures were customs that were originally Super-Patriot action figures from the Spawn line. They were repainted, given Ferengi heads, and little blue pipe cleaners to represent energy whips. The production team loved them so much that John Eaves, the production designer, made extras to give away to the staff.
What I find odd is that Playmates, at the height of their Star Trek production, never made a Marauder Mo action figure themselves. I mean, just put a Ferengi head on a Klingon body, give him an energy whip, sell it at as convention exclusive, and call it a day. They would sell like hot cakes to the toy buying crowd who were in on the joke.
