If you applied some amount and it started to dry (which it does pretty quickly) and then you need to add some more and you accidentally touch the drying part with whatever tool you use to apply your mask, the drying bit will stick to the tool and you will be pulling off some of the mask you already applied. If you nick the edge of the fully dried mask, it may peel.
