Marines having flaws because the Primarchs had flaws and thus are interesting as characters and as a faction as a whole was intentional back to 87. The Emperor didn't have the knowledge to make the Primarchs to begin with and made them flawed as a result, and as such the Marines spawned from them were flawed like their fathers. This is one of the worst asspulls and leads to the conclusion that Cawl is somehow better than The Emperor at gene tech, and moreso did it by his goddamn self in a lab in less than 1000 years.
Cawl is fucking 10000 years old, nothing human lives that long in this universe and is once again a result of them fucking up the most basic parts of the lore. No techpriest before him at any point in the lore was spoken of to live anywhere past a millenia, let alone ten and somehow has his shit together enough that he can pop out and convince Guilliman that these new super duper marines are better than all the millions out in the galaxy. The entire 8e retcon fest is an embarrassment to all the established lore that so many talented people set down, and you know it. Now fuck off.
