>>5863107>everyone starts with stockBullshit. Cashier is the starting role at Jojos, unless it's a small format store. In that case you're cashier AND cutting counter. I dunno how far you made it but the obligatory yearly raise there is $.25, but aparently corporate caps the max pay for part-time positions and it's stupidly low, like $10/hr. I used to work at a small format store and even the managers didnt know about the cap until the company updated their system and forgot to password lock that part of the info.
I actually enjoyed working there until we did well enough to get upgraded to a super store. The crew was small and close knit, management was super nice, and it was really a family environment. We were super excited at first for the upgrade but then corporate suddenly replaced our manager with a random dude hired just for the occaision. It got sketchier and sketchier from there until the official moving day, when they had our old boss personally select 1/2 the employees to lay off (which made no fucking sense anyway as the store was hiring 50 new employees) and put her in front of us to do it. She was absolutely sobbing and she just kept apologising, and years later after the dust settled I went back to see the new store and she broke down how she picked who to keep and who to let go. Basically anyone who couldnt survive without the paycheck, too old to find a new job, or too disabled to find other employment stayed, anyone who had a 'way out', another source of income, or she thought was exceptionally hireable was out. I got scrapped because I was leaving for college way out of state, already had the second job, and was running a craft business so I was basically a 'free space' that let her hold on to one more person who had no other options.
I've also since learned that the new manager is an asshat who prefers to hire straight men to the point he's harboring a pedo. I miss the old store but not like this. NOT LIKE THIS.
