You could probably say a lot of the same things about sofubi that you say about statues. They have some articulation, but it's usually quite minimal.
Personally I still collect both sofubi and figures, but I'm the kind of guy who generally poses something and then just sets it on a shelf. There are some exceptions, and I do go back and mess with them occasionally, but I often simply have them as display pieces. So I figured better to have giant well detailed and interesting bricks than a highly articulated figure I treat like a statue.
