They don't appear to have any spearmen deployed on their flank to check a cavalry charge, nor does it seem like anyone is in charge and coordinating the assault. This mess of a battle is minutes away from the bulk of the forestmen being ridden down, the survivors scattering and fleeing back to their forest hideouts and those trapped on the castle side of the moat being massacred at leisure by the garrison.
