That said I do think the kid probably didn't mean much by that statement, just that he does not see black superheroes so he can't be one; no angst or upset over it; just stating it matter of factly like kids often do. But at the time a lot was being analyzed as far as how black children perceive things and the possibility of detrimental effects that might have on their development; especially in regards to self worth.
