It was totally unnecessary, and easily the worst animated part of Super, and like, 90% of the screen grabs for the "shit tier" animation of super come either from that SSJ3 Goku vs Beerus episode, of some of the episodes of Goku vs. Frieza.
Not saying Super didn't have plenty of questionable animation issues later, but these were easily the worst and most memorable, and pretty much made Super's animation and art quality out to be a meme.
