Did the old bolters even make perfect logical sense, was every dongle and doodad on it accounted for and explained in lore?
I think this too is a symptom of GW trying to steer 40k in a more serious, unironically grimdark direction. 40K used to be so goofy and drenched in irony, and I loved it for that.
